Hi...I am not new to Disney, this will be my 9th time going, but the Disney Rash is somewhat new. I have gotten it the last 2x I went last being 2014. Eaach time it has come out worse. And I have gotten it in Canada. So this seems as it is going to be the norm and I am trying to be preventative. We are going last week of July...we normally go in August.
I have not been able to find many things that can prevent this, but I have heard a few people recommend wearing compression pants.
So I am wondering if they even help and would it be worth wearing them? (even though the thought of this already makes me hot!)
Any feedback is appreciative!!

Mix in a sealable container the following five ingredients together and use before and after park days:

A tube each of:

1. triple antibiotic ointment
2. Anti-fungal (athlete’s foot) med
3. Hydrocortisone (with or w/o lidocaine)
4. Vit A and D ointment
5. Zinc oxide

This is an old summer camp remedy and it really works - for all sorts of minor skin ailments. We keep this mixture handy at home.

My wife uses it liberally on her horses’ minor scratches and such.

if it's lower ankles from the heat i use sunscreen and yes compression socks. if it's thighs disney rash i use power, glide for prevention. i also have been wearing skorts which completely prevents them for thighs/ the biker shorts underneath the skort are the best prevention for me. weather permitting you like a skort. or biker short if you like.

I get this on my ankles (only at MK, never any other parks) and use sunscreen plus hydrocortisone but had never thought of compression socks. I put them on after a long run to help recover - do you wear the compression socks while at the park or after when you are recovering?

i read online to wear them to prevent them but i also read they're good for tired feet and would help prevent your feet from swelling and being stressed in the parks standing in line. so win-win!

I have gotten the "golfer's/hikers" rash on my lower legs on most of my Disney trips. I am not at all overweight, but Dr. says it is caused by a combination of prolonged sunlight, heat or not, and sudden prolonged being on your feet. The rash you may get from friction of body parts is entirely different. Body Glide would help that immensely. It doesn't hurt or itch (unlike a heat rash - entirely different) and fades away after a few days of "normalcy".
I let it go it's course as not much will affect it either way and it's not harmful, though unsightly. That's the only times I have gotten it.

My 8 year old just got this on the 4th of July for the first time that I’ve ever noticed. (And we were just in MK end of June, no problems!) It was a red, blotchy rash on the back of her legs below her calves. She said they itched. After 2 days, it was pretty much gone.

I read that it’s exercise-induced vasculitis (hikers rash or Disney rash). It happens with prolonged walking when it’s hot and the blood vessels become inflamed. Blood pools in the legs instead of circulating back to the heart.

So take breaks. Drink water. Compression clothes and massage could help.

Thanks for everyone who had input…we will see how it goes!😊. trying the remedies, I have been walking, and I have compression socks, and some compression pants- just not to sure about those.

Vasculitis Info (not chafe rash)-

i have had the vaculitis issue the past 3 times that I was in Disney(never anywhere else) and I believe it was from extensive walking without rest in intense heat and humidity.****Please read this- on my last visit, I ended up cutting my trip short and being hospitalized when I got home. Serious vasculitis can cause blood to pool in your legs and create mini-clots along with extreme swelling and severe pain. You don't want to have this and then have to travel by plane or endure a long car ride home.

Prevention is everything- 1) If you can take a midday break, go back to your hotel and rest your legs on pillows above the level of your heart as you lay on your bed. Cool your legs in the pool while floating.

2)Apply cool compresses to your legs(cold, wet towels)

3)If you can't leave the parks, there are sometimes areas where you can sit and rest your legs on a wall or on a chair.

4) Resist the temptation to run while touring. It only makes things worse.

5) Consider bringing medium weight compression socks with you. They make flesh colored ones and you could bring loose fitting lightweight pants to wear which will disguise them. Buy one size larger than you need at home because your lower legs will swell. Follow the directions for time on/time off when wearing the stockings. Lastly, don't forget to try the socks on at home to make sure they will fit in your chosen park shoe. They do add some bulk.

I hope this helps.
