Disney Princesses...Yikes!

Just a very sad thread...this is one of those times where you just say....Maybe I should just keep this to myself!

The only problem I have with the princesses is that they all appear to be nearly 40! Seriously...they don't look like youthful princesses at all. They look like old ladies. We met Mulan last time...she wasn't even Chinese. She was vaguely "ethnic" with a lot of cat's eye makeup.

Er, maybe take your foot out of your mouth on that one, 40 isn't an old lady child!! :rotfl:

I do agree princesses should be younger though. ;)

You must have missed the big "Is Alice a man?" thread a few years back. :rotfl:

But people did post photos. And I thought it was just mean.

Was it wrong that I literally laughed out loud?

I know! :rotfl: This is basically a thread saying some girls weren't pretty enough to be princesses? I think? :confused3

No. They're not saying some girls aren't pretty, they're saying some girls don't look like the princesses they're supposed to represent. Totally different things. I think all of my female friends are pretty, but no way do any of them look like Rapunzel or Cinderella, for example :)

I noticed it too, last month. We don't usually meet face characters since my nephew is so young, but we were with some friends, including a seven year old girl. It was past 11, so the lines at Princess Fairytale Hall were short. Since we hadn't been there yet, we decided to meet Cinderella and Aurora. I had the thought neither of them looked much like the princesses, but both of them were spot on with the acting, especially Aurora.

I'm 37. They looked like me and my sisters (both older and younger sisters)

Yes, this.

My daughter was in awe of every princess she met. Her eyes couldn't have gotten any bigger, or her smile any wider. Were they the reincarnation of the cartoon, probably not, but it was the persona. I'm glad my daughter was in love with them all, and even if she noticed a difference between one princess or the next, she didn't question the magic of it all.

I would much rather have a princess whose face didn't seem quite in line with the character they're representing than having one who is spot-on looks wise but has no personality. We've gotten a few duds in the personality department over the years and it just sucks. The Rapunzel and Flynn we met at MNSSHP in 2012 were awesome. The ones we met this past October were just...not. And Snow Prince this year had like zero personality. I mean, I know he has like zero personality in the movie (ha ha) but he seemed to have no idea at all how to interact with kids. The 2012 Snow Prince was great.

When we ate at Akershus it was more like meeting Belle's mother. I would think that the people seeking those positions would be late teens/early 20s, not be my age.

I just have to say, we were in WDW the last week of January and both our Rapunzel and Ariel were AMAZING. Looks, personality, the whole nine yards. Rapunzel even asked if I had my fiance frying pan trained. I could have just chatted with the two of them for hours!

This site has a lot of face characters...

Most of these look pretty good but there are few doozies in there. There are some that show 6 different Jasmines and Cinderellas, etc. so you can see the differences.

I'm an adult with no kids but I'm only interested in hugging Sully and maybe Pooh! Big, giant stuffed animals! :rotfl:

My kids are 4 and we've been to Disney 6 times. We've met lots of princesses (and a few princes) and have never had a bad experience with anyone's attitude.

I have noticed that out of the 3 times we've met Rapunzel, she's looked VERY different from the cartoon version. Maybe she's just hard to cast, because most of the others are usually pretty spot on.
