We had one of our most magical experiences at Disney related to our Platinum Pass. We had a Disney World annual pass, when we decided to go to Disneyland. I had no idea there was such a thing as a two-coast pass. We bought 5 day Disneyland passes. Before our next trip to Disney World, we heard about this Platinum Pass. We called Disney, and they told us to bring our used 5-day passes with us. When we got to Hollywood Studios, we stopped at Guest Relations. It took quite a while, but they were able to apply the cost of the used ticket to a Platinum Pass. We got $20 BACK, and now could use the water parks and Disney Quest free! And, they gave us a ton of fastpasses because it took so long. They were soooo nice. We got 3 Disney World and 2 Disneyland trips out of one Platinum Pass!
One tip - At Disneyland they required photo ID to enter the parks. We had to go to a PhotoPass photographer to get a photo of each of us, and then went to Guest Relations. They added the photo to our pass, and we didn't need to show ID every time. They did have to reissue the pass, however.
Also, ask EVERYONE at Disneyland if they have an annual pass discount. Way more places (like dining) offer a discount than in Disney World.
