Disney Popcorn

Just out of curiosity, and I wonder this every time I'm in the parks... what is it about the Disney popcorn that makes it so delicious and unique??? I mean it cant be that hard to make popcorn taste so wonderful but seriously, the popcorn at Disney is without doubt the BEST popcorn in the world!!!! Better than any movie theatre, baseball game, etc..... Theres this stand right off of main street, to the right, and right before you enter tomorrowland... everytime i walk by it, it is definetely a MUST DO....anybody agree?

Totally agree, it doesn't matter if it's 8:30 am when I enter MK I head over to the left and buy a popcorn and then as I leave I buy a refill at the same stand on the way out.

I think it's quite salty/buttery which I love! I daresay I don't know how many I consume while I'm there but one thing for sure every one around me can't keep their mits out of it! I don't mind sharing but to a point!

In all seriousness I have no idea *why* it tastes so much better but I agree that it does! I actually believe the very best disney popcorn comes from the cart next to City Hall on Main Street

I agree with all of you. I diet for a month before our trip (at least) because I have to have Disney popcorn every single day we are there (if not twice a day).

I was told it is dairy free so we plan to try some this trip. My son has a milk allergy...so that butter taste....cannot be butter.

ITA - except our favorite stand is the one in Epcot Canada pavilion!

My dd gets a popcorn and a soda and for me its a popcorn and a Lebats light, love it.

I can't say what makes it taste good, as I cannot eat (it contains coconut oil, and I'm allergic). But I can say it is the best smelling popcorn.

I think it has a lot to do with the smell. I can be stuffed to the gills, walk by a popcorn stand, smell it and then need to have it and crave it until I do. Have you ever walked past the popcorn stands when they're not open? The smell is still wafting around. I'm convinced they pipe the smell out separately and lace it with pheromones or something.

For one thing it just tastes fresh! The popcorn we get at our movie theater is not made at the theater and just lacks that freshly popped quality. We were at WDW earlier this month and HAD TO buy popcorn 3xs! That stuff is the best!

If they are using coconut oil that alone contributes to the better flavor than most other popcorns you get at say a movie theater. I used to work at a theater back when they (the company) still used coconut oil. The popcorn back then could be eaten without the addition of the buttery topping and still taste good.

Then one of the major networks did an expose on movie theatre popcorn and how a large popcorn was the equivalent of somewhere in the neighborhood of 3 Big Macs. So movie theaters went on a hunt for "healthier" oil to make popcorn with which IMO resulted in the popcorn tasting like cardboard.

I love this popcorn and always have to have some during my trip.

Can you get the good Disney World popcorn at Downtown Disney? I'm taking my sister for a very short 2 day shopping trip and we are not entering the parks . She almost all popcorn and I the DW popcorn. I'd love to get some for us to share!

Oh, at allears.net under the section Marketplace Snacks Downtown Disney it says you can get Crack Co... I mean Popcorn for 2.75$ & 3.75$ Hope that helps... I don't know if it is the *special* kind or not, you should check it out!

I don't think the big plastic bucket counts as a snack, but you can get the smaller popcorns. I think they are in a bag.
