Disney planes

Hey maybe the Astro Orbiter maintenance is to turn it into a Planes ride, wouldn't be that hard to build a bunch of Dusty's over the rockets, lol! But I do hope they give Planes some sort of presence in the coming years.

I do agree that the first Planes movie was crap. Horribly unoriginal plot and poor character development. I honestly didn't care if Dusty won the race by the end or not.

However, Fire & Rescue has totally redeemed it! It is everything the first movie wasn't. I really didn't have high expectations for it, but DS begged to go see it, and I thought it was one of the better movies Disney has made in years. It would actually make a really cool Soarin-like attraction. Or even more in the style of Star Tours. But for now, a M&G would at least be fun :goodvibes

Sidenote, but since someone brought it up - I avoided Cars 2 for years because of all the negative reviews. Once I finally watched it, I was stunned that no one seems to like it! We love the original Cars at out house (DS is Lightning McQueen-obsessed) and I thought the second was was at least as good as the first. We've seen it a dozen or more times now, and I still enjoy it every time. So, you have to take reviews with a grain of salt.

I think it would be highlight of my son's preschool years if he was able to fly Dusty or Skipper in a ride similar to Dumbo or the Magic Carpets. Sadly no Planes are in the parks yet. Maybe with Planes F&R doing better than Planes did we will see something in the future even if it is just a sculpture during the Flower & Garden festival.

I guess someone neglected to tell my 3 yo that Planes was a horrible movie and not worth his adoration, but since he loves it anyways we will happily watch it over & over.

Honestly I really don't see Planes having any presence in the parks in the future. The movies weren't spectacular (and I've seen both) and they're forgettable. What is the 3 year old going to remember more in five years, Planes or Frozen?

Depends on who you ask. My 2.5 year old nephew Planes hands down. I haven't heard him meantion Frozen once. By this point I'm sure they watched it at home. On the flip side he won't shut up about Planes. He has a Planes backpack for his first year of school. He has a Planes lunch tote. He has Dusty and brings him to dinner to play with and has already asked if we can buy the movie. He even would go on and on about it before he saw the movie and was so excited about it.

For him and I imagine several other little boys (and non-princess loving girls) they will remember this because it will be the toys they play with and lunch bag they have for the first day of school.

Anyone who has been to the parks recently, can they tell us which store had Planes merchandise, and if it was anything different than what they have in the regular Disney stores at home?

My almost 3 year old LOVES the movies - I admit I didn't like it at first, but after the first dozen times he demanded we play it, it grew on me! He's a delayed talker so when I saw how excited he was over the movie (plane and Dusty were two of his first real words), I encouraged his love of it by buying pretty much one of everything they have with Dusty on it, so I'm hoping to find something new and different on our trip in September!

I'm going this weekend I'll keep an eye out but remember things can change between now and September.

Exactly, depends on who you ask. My oldest son really disliked Frozen and stopped paying attention to go play 1/2 way through. My middle son didn't like it either. My wife only thought it was ok, like Planes F&R more, and didn't get the big deal. I have not seen it but liked Planes F&R.

Also, my wife is somewhat the prime target audience for Frozen as she is one of 3 daughters and close with her sisters, but even the sister angle didn't really strike a chord with her.
To each their own. In the collective conscious, Frozen will last longer, yes, but to to each individual, one or the other will make a bigger impression.
