Disney Pins? Show Me Your Pics!!

Oh this sounds so exciting!! I want to see pictures, anyone willing to show me???

I think I want Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan pins, are they available?

How cool is it with the CM trading!!! Do i just use any old Lanyard??

Alice & Peter are available. DBF collects Alice pins but they are hard to find, it seems there are many Alice collectors and they don't want to part with their pins most of the time. Earlier this year there was a lanyard set that was chess pieces with Peter Pan characters.

Well, I like all my pins, so I don't trade. I don't have any I don't want. :rotfl: I don't wear them to DLR, I wear them to work. As a pre-k teacher I wear them on my whistle lanyard. Every week we learn a different letter. So I wear a pin that starts with that letter. They aren't all Disney pins, but are becoming so more and more. Maybe eventually I'll have the entire alpahbet in Disney pins. :goodvibes

One pin I especially wanted was Kuzco from The Emperor's New Groove. I love that movie!! I looked all over DLR- nothing. I checked on ebay and only found one person selling it for $70. :sad2: Needless to say, I don't have him.

OK then what you want is the alphabet set from WDW, they did all the letters of the alphabet and each letter has a different character. DD13 wants to spell her name, so does DD9, I just want the collection so I'm trading for them when I see them. DD13 needs 7 letters for her name and DD9 needs 4. :) I'll trade for whatever extras I see and I'll let you know when I get them, right now I only have an extra V. :)

Well, I love the pins but have resisted collecting them. I have a few that were gifts and one that I just had to have. It's a 3-D Alice in Wonderland pin, which would be very hard to wear I think! Here it is:

DBF has that one, it's his favorite!! He doesn't carry it around with him tho, it's too big and we are afraid it will break.

I had no idea there was an alphabet set. How cute! I don't buy those 3D pins either. They are very cute, but not good to wear to work.

My sister got me a bird HM pin for Christmas. It is very cute. The bird has a Mickey Hat on. I've been thinking I would like some nice way to hang them up when I'm not using them, but I haven't gotten around to that yet. I should do that this summer.

My best tip is to buy grab bag pins online and then trade for what you want. We use mousepinsonline and buy a 2-3 grab bags (10-15 pins) for about $9 for a bag of 5 and then only put only them to trade on our lanyard. I am working on a display for the ones we want to keep. Of course we always say we aren't going to buy this trip and only trade, but it never happens. lol

I mostly collect Aurora, Pirate Princess, and HSM pins; while DH loves Mickey, Figment, ride pins, and anything Starwars.

It's from last year so there are a lot of "scrappers" running around (I think half of what I have is probably fake but I like them so I'm keeping them) but they are neat!! I'll see if I can find extras. :)

OP grab bags can be great and you can find pins for trading on eBay but please be aware that many eBay sellers have scrappers which are not authorized by Disney. Are they tradable? Yes but they are fake so they are not desirable. Please pop by the Collector's Board, there is a thread that lists eBay sellers that many of us have had personal experiences with, both good and experiences. LOL Anyway, drop in on us and see if our suggestions can help you with pins for trading. :)

Sounds like my collection as I collect Aurora, Mickey (I love my two pins of Mickey as Prince Philllip and Minnie as Aurora), and Disney characters dressed as Star Wars characters. I just completed the SW mystery set this last trip. :woohoo:

Afterwards we have a long shadow box we display both lanyards in and have all of them hanging in our "disney" room. Sorry I don't have pics of them.

Yet.

Well, have you taken some pictures yet? Hmm?

I never traded, DS traded but didn't realize that it was permanent and is still annoyed at us for letting him give away his pin that he NOW wants (1.5 years later), and hubby's getting out of trading b/c most of his pins have special meaning to him at this point. So I'm tired of wearing them to the parks and having people disappointed when I won't trade. (I'm not tired of wearing them...I'm tired of disappointing people) So I need ideas to put them up somewhere in a nice way! (various free buttons, too...all I can think of is to pin them on nice wide ribbons and hang those, but that sounds...dusty...

Just curious, but we want to get my son trading a bit with the cast members when we go in October. I think it would be a great social interaction for him, but he may not like other guests trying to trade with him. He's got high functioning autsim so sometimes he's fine with people coming up to him, and other times not so much. Would it be okay for me to keep his lanyard in my purse until we get to a CM?

Molly we use cork boards at home to display our pins. We have 1 full one in our bedroom (along with a ton of framed sets), 1 that has my Tink pins on it, 1 that has DBF's Fotoball (Millenium pins) and his 100 Mickey's on it and another one we are working on right now with this years pins. The girls also have cork boards and framed sets in their rooms. The cork boards work a lot better than the frames and they are easy to pull in and out if you need to look at something.

Yes, it's perfectly fine for you to keep them in your bag until he says he wants to trade. :)

I got started not even meaning too on my last trip, they gave me the free lanyard and one free pin with my park passes and before I knew it I had spent 160 dollars on pins, at least its a healthy addiction:rotfl:

We collect a full lanyard each on every trip as a way to sort of commemorate that specific trip. If it's a holiday, we'll fill it up with as many holiday pins as we can. If not a holiday, it's usually just what we like at the time. One trip was mostly rides, another was mostly villains. One trip was nothing but Mickey pins. Just kind of depends.

That is such a cute idea and a great way to reminisce on specific trips :)

So do you just push them in and keep the backs somewhere else? Is it like a bulletin board?

Oh wow what a great website, I might just have to buy some :goodvibes

Anyone else with pictures?

I used to be a Disney watch fanatic back in the '90s, and when that impractical hobby got to be too expensive I began 'noticing' how clever some of the pin designs were. I started to collect pins, but fortunately I saw early on that this was going to be a dangerous obsession because it is easy to tell myself that since pins are fairly inexpensive souvenir, I need to get 150 of them in one trip or something! I could see the DSE (Disney Snowball Effect) about to take hold of me. So luckily I stopped the pin collecting early on, after just acquiring a few. But the ones that I went for in the '90s or early part of this decade were also the ones of characters on the rides - like Donald on the Teacups or something - and a pin from each land if I could find one, as well as a pin from each shop with the shop's name on it - IF they had them. For example, I got a Disneyana pin and a Gallery pin. I also liked the cute holiday pins.

World of Disney used to sell this cool pin album - not the briefcase-style thing that zips up, but an actual album with a 3-ring binder and felt pages, on which you would clip your pins. I only got one of those albums and then they stopped selling them at DLR. Anyway, if I can do it without having to unhinge all of the pins from the album, I will try to take pictures of the carefully arranged pins (separated by theme) on the album's pages and post them here in the next few days.

I don't trade. I buy ones that I like. Here are a few pictures I have.

I absolutely love the Tinkerbell one with the little Diamontes in her wings! I don't think I am going to trade, yet...

That was the very first pin I bought. I didn't have the back of the pin on tight and it fell off. :sad2: I was very upset that I lost it, so I went and bought another one. So make sure you really push on the pin back so it is as tight as possible. :thumbsup2

So Aspen, do you buy your Hidden Mickey's? Because I have not seen those fast pass HM's available in mystery packs yet.

I'll see if I can get some photos of mine on the cork boards to show you guys. Yes, you just push them in, the backs we have all in a HUGE gallon size Ziploc bag. :)

Some from last year, this is so you can see how they look on a cork board. I've heard of people taking the frames off and placing fabric on the cork and reframing but we just went with plain cork.

OMG I want this pin!!!!!! thats wonderful, can one still get this pin??

Yes! I got mine in Feb. but just saw it last week, I *think* at World of Disney. Not positive though, as I went all over the place looking for a Tweedle Dum/Dee pin (no such pin any longer but they do have them on ebay).
