Disney Pins? Show Me Your Pics!!

Thanks Courtney, I felt pretty smart figuring that one out! LOL :)

Very cute board Allie! :)

Bathroom sign pins....you know they've probably done them but not recently. They do have a garbage can set that I've seen but those are really old and I've seen MS store signs as well....but bathroom signs, that would be CUTE!!!

Renee, pins in the park vary based on the pin, prices range from $6.95-16.95 and sets vary as well. It really depends on what you're looking for.

Thanks Kerri! I can see that this is going to be the start of another obsession.....:laughing:

That was the very first pin I bought. I didn't have the back of the pin on tight and it fell off. :sad2: I was very upset that I lost it, so I went and bought another one. So make sure you really push on the pin back so it is as tight as possible. :thumbsup2

We use the locking pin backs you can buy at the pin stores.

After seeing my mother repeatedly lose a pin she had on her hat (which she thankfully always found), I looked into locking backs. Then I saw a friend lose the locked back (but not the pin) on Big Thunder Mountain. I've read countless stories of people who lost treasured pins because the locked back failed.

If you do not want to lose a pin, then I think you have two options. Option one is to never wear it in the parks, and option two is to do what I do, which does cost more. If I like a pin enough to want to display it on my lanyard, I will buy two of that very pin and use locking backs to better secure it. Because it does involve buying duplicates, I think long and hard about why it should go on my lanyard, and I almost always limit it to either nice pins of the lowest price or extremely special pins that may cost more.

I keep my traders in a zippered small pin book I bought at the parks a few years ago. This has led to many a little boy hoping to trade for a Star Wars pin on my lanyard only to discover that my traders were rather unexciting (usually because they came in a set with one Aurora pin that I wanted). Of course, while they last, I now have a few Star Wars mystery pins as traders after I had to buy more of those to complete my set(which did happen).

We found a great way to not lose pins off our lanyards, without having to purchase those pesky locking backs which really add weight believe it or not.

When placing the pin back on the pin, don't shove it in the preformed hole. Push the pin back on just slightly above/below/next to the hole, creating a new hole. It's a little tougher shoving them on, but we've never lost a pin yet.

hehe, you have NOOOOOOOOO idea. Careful... it sucks you in, fast! :goodvibes

It already has and I don't even have one yet! :faint:

I sent some pictures of the ones I liked to DH (who is actually working, like I should be!) and he told me he was going to ban me from this site! :lmao:

OMG pin trading is soooooooooo addicting....and $$$$ if you let it get that way. We use the locking backs that need an allen wrench to take them off on our keepers, I have 1 lanyard that is about half full of keepers, half full of traders, DBF has a glow in the dark lanyard that is 100% keepers! They are all attached with the locking backs. Haven't lost one yet and mine have been attached for oh...2 years....

We normally don't trade. We buy a lanyard as a way to remember each individual trip. Once in a while we trade with a CM or if a young kid walks up to us and wants to trade, we really can't say no. We'll always go back and just repurchase the pin we traded if we still want it.

We store/display them in inch deep shadow boxes. Each box has a metal engraved plaque on the bottom stating "Disneyland" and the month and year.

I have about 4 other collections that I've collected over the past couple of years that I also frame. These are usually bought on Ebay.

Here's the Disney Dreams Collection Pin Set:

Our Lanyards from the last 3 trips. There's four because we went a little bit overboard on July 4th weekend and collected a July 4th Pin lanyard as well. Really nice on the ol' pocketbook:

Those are great displays!! Where did you find them?

They had a couple of shadow boxes at DL but man, they are $$$$$ there!!

We bought them at craft stores, specifically one called Michael's. You can find them at Hobby Lobby too, if you have them in CA.

Are Walt Disney ones easy to find at DL? I really want one of him..

All my pins were purchased at WDW. My first vacation in 2006 they had lots of Walt pins, however my recent vacation to WDW Dec 2008-Jan 2009 I could ony find 1. Saved me alot of money though, as I'll buy anything that has a pic of Walt on it.

Thanks. I just did it this past weekend. I got the idea on this thread to put fabric on a corkboard, my Mum's fiancee did that for me (there's a reason why she's marrying him LOL) and gave me the board to insert my pins on too.

I LOVE your displays! Wow...those are so cool! Question for you...the boxes you have them in...are the backs easy to remove and add more pins to them as I get them?

The backs of these are just like any sort of picture frame. Removes easily. They come in two different kinds. One that's adjustable and one that isn't. Since the pin backs take up some space, the adjustable one is great. It pushes the pins towards the front and adds some space in the back to put on the cover. The ones where we display collections, the pin goes through the cardboard pretty easily. The backing is fuzzy and it comes with Velco tabs as well.

Very cool guys, we have Michael's here. :)

Best place to get them. They're about 19.99 - 24.99 each. Sometimes they have sales from 25-50% off almost every weekend. We buy in bulk. :)

I will have to look next time I'm there. I was there last weekend, got a cork board for the kitchen and had the whole display fall on my foot! OUCH!

You should have no problems finding a pin of Walt Disney at Disneyland. You may some challenges if you have a specific pin in mind. The one of Mickey painting the picture of Walt should be pretty easy.

However, Disneyland does have a few Walt pins are are AP holder exclusives, which means you have to have an AP to buy them. If you don't, but can find an AP holder to help you, than will work.

Where do you find AP holder exclusive pins?

I have to say all this talk about pins got me dreaming about them! I dreamed I was at DL and I thought this was my chance to get another pin. So I go into the store where I saw them before but they weren't there. Instead, the wall had all these pins that people had left there from different schools to show they were there. Very disappointing. :sad2: :lmao:

In the stores, they have them displayed in cases usually. If they don't have anything displayed just ask about them.
