Disney Pins? Show Me Your Pics!!

This is how my kids display their pins at home. I don't personally collect, but they each have one of these Mickey heads in their rooms:

And this is my favorite one. The silhouette we had done of the girls framed with the silhouette pins. I LOVE this one!

I love this one, it's so cool.

I don't have photos of mine, but I'll take some this weekend and post. I only probably have about 20 though. Not a mad collector like some on here, but after seeing the photos, I'm tempted to start LOL

So Aspen, do you buy your Hidden Mickey's? Because I have not seen those fast pass HM's available in mystery packs yet.

I'll see if I can get some photos of mine on the cork boards to show you guys. Yes, you just push them in, the backs we have all in a HUGE gallon size Ziploc bag. :)

I did get them in a mystery pack. I got them at the pin trading station/store at DTD in WDW. If you have been looking at DL they my not have them. I was lucky because I thought I got all good ones in the mystery pack.

Wow you have a lot of pins.:thumbsup2 I do not have enough room for that many. If I keep buying them I will need a book.

oh my goodness Kerri, I LOVE LOVE the frame with your daughters' silhouettes in them. That really is so adorable! I love it!

I love that display DM, I want to do that for my girls rooms but I haven't found the right size hoops yet.....my Michaels seems to be always out! :(

Ya, they won't have WDW pins at DL. That teacup set I put up, those were some we got from mystery packs just a couple weeks ago. We got enough that we had 2 full sets and a lot of extras too. Oh and that's not even half of our pins, both the girls have framed sets in their rooms, cork boards, and DD13 has 3 pin books, DD9 has 2, I have 1 and DBF has 1. Oh and I didn't photograph his cork board either....LOL We have a serious problem.

Thanks Jazzy, that is seriously my favorite display. :) I'm trying to figure out how we can put the Pooh silhouettes in there too. lol

Collecting pins is a great because most of them don't cost a lot of money. I'm not serious about it either. If I see a pin I like then I buy it. I know people who have made special trips to WDW just for a pin when they come out. Now that is a serious problem. :lmao:

OP - I have been trading for a few years and I will only trade with CMs. I wear my lanyard all the time. I am happy to show other guests who ask, but I just say very clearly, "I am not interested in trading, though, thanks." Never been a problem.

When we went to WDW my packing list included 100 pins to take for trading. hehe, yeah, I had fun! I came home with loads of pins that you can't find at DL very easily. Sometimes you can find WDW (and other Disney Parks for that matter) on CM lanyards because other guests have traded them to the CM.

It was asked, what do people trade for? I LOVE Figment. He is the only Disney character that is Park Exclusive. He is only at WDW. So... hunting for his pins at DLR is a treasure hunt. I did well on Figment at WDW.

I also collect anything that catches my eye for whatever reason.

I strongly encourage people not to get too hung up on the "hidden mickey" deal. If you don't like a pin, just because it has a mickey on it does not mean you should trade for it - especially if you have no plans of trading with fellow guests.

Basically, have fun with it. Ask CMs questions. Collect things you like. It's a fun (and very addictive) hobby. I started out with 1, I now have close to 350. Seriously.

Pixiewings71, could you do me a small favor and look over - there - for a second while I "borrow" a few of your Peter Pan chess piece pins that I am missing from my set? Thanks! :goodvibes Absolutely love the silhouette frame! Great idea.

Cute alphabet pins! Actually, cute all the pins. I also like the teacups. I saw some before that are coffee cups that I love too. My mom collects pins from everywhere she visits. Pins are just interesting to look at. And I have to say her pin collection is a lot easier to store than my mug collection! :rotfl:
The sewing hoop mickey head is very cute.

My kid's first trip was earlier this month, and we bought lanyard starter packs. At trip's end, we had spent close to $300 in pins. My son likes the Stitch pins and daughter likes the Nightmare Before Christmas. Son did a lot of trading with CMs, but not visitors. Daughter only traded a few times- she was more attached to her purchases than son was.

Dreams, we have extras, what are you missing?

Pink Budgie, I have the coffee cup set too. :) They are cute and I don't really drink coffee. :)

Thanks for the compliments on the silhouettes. :)

Aspen we collect what we like and yes, we usually collect all the HM pins, but we don't generally go just for the pins. Altho we have been known to go and just pin trade while riding hardly any rides. :)

OP Dreams has a good point, get what you like not what everyone else likes. That's what makes it so much fun. :)

Kerri, I love your pin set ups! Especially the last one, what a neat idea!!! Smarty pants!

I just had an idea for pins. I want a bathroom sign set. :rotfl: To go with my pictures I take of the bathroom signs. :goodvibes

You should have no problems finding a pin of Walt Disney at Disneyland. You may some challenges if you have a specific pin in mind. The one of Mickey painting the picture of Walt should be pretty easy.

However, Disneyland does have a few Walt pins are are AP holder exclusives, which means you have to have an AP to buy them. If you don't, but can find an AP holder to help you, than will work.

How do you get the celebration pins? for example, 1st visit, etc.

They give away those big badges. Just ask. City Hall is sure to have all the kinds. Birthday, Anniversary, 1st Visit, etc. Other places around may have some too but sometimes they run out of a certain type. Guest Services, the Bank, and I think sometimes cetain stores may also have them.

Well, have you taken some pictures yet? Hmm?

I never traded, DS traded but didn't realize that it was permanent and is still annoyed at us for letting him give away his pin that he NOW wants (1.5 years later), and hubby's getting out of trading b/c most of his pins have special meaning to him at this point. So I'm tired of wearing them to the parks and having people disappointed when I won't trade. (I'm not tired of wearing them...I'm tired of disappointing people) So I need ideas to put them up somewhere in a nice way! (various free buttons, too...all I can think of is to pin them on nice wide ribbons and hang those, but that sounds...dusty...

Been out of town hanging out on a lake getting all tan and sipping cocktails, so now that I'm back I'll get some photo's of the boxes we have them in an post them hopefully tonight. :)

Ok, I made the BIG mistake of looking at this thread and went on Ebay to search for Teacups pins (one of my favorite rides). What is the general cost for pins at the park? I am sure it varies, but just wondering because some of the ones I like on Ebay are $8-$10 (w/shipping included).
