I love Disney trading pins. I have loads of 'em. My favorite to collect are the Piece of Disney History pins. They are the ones with the little bit of the attraction inside a bubble of the pin. I used to use this one site to find out what pins were being released and when. However, they won't be doing updates anymore. What sites do you use to find out what pins are being released?

Those are the sites/podcast I use as well. I am sure there are lots of us here within the DIS community who love pin trading. :goodvibes You have some pretty lofty goals if you are going for the POH pins. Have you seen the ones they have at Disneyland now? Really nice, but very hard to come by.

If either of you are in pinpics, let me know. You never know where your next "holy grail" may come from. ;)

I have a list of wants and trades on PinPics. Search CAJUNWDWFAN

See...ask a question on the boards and you will receive an answer.

I use the two listed for pin trading and the podcast is a new one...thanks for the link.

I think pinpics is changing their trade policy or how they offer trading info. so just stay up to date with them. Of course you probably already knew that.

Yeah I have notice a lot of my pin sites are no longer available either. I wonder if it a sign that pins will soon be no longer...:scared1:.

If I discover any new ones, I will share.

Ooooh! Pin Traders! Pin Traders! :yay:

I pin trade, got about 300+. Am in the process of sorting them all out between 2 pin bags and a frame, and so am pinpic'ing them as I go. I have some done on pinpics and my name is GhostInTheSnow... now... if only I could change my board name to that...

I'm new to pin trading. Started last year when I went to Disneyworld. I thought you could just pick up a "piece of history pin" at Disneyland.:rotfl2: I found out you have to get wristbands and everything just to have a shot at getting one. So is this a good pin to collect? I want pins that have value. Not that I plan to sell them just a justification its worth it. :rotfl: So I buy Limited Edition etc.
Any suggestions for a newbie????

:confused3 I tried pin trading on a trip in the past, but quickly discovered how attached I became to my pins.

:duck:

The value of your pins, more or likely, is what they mean to you. I haven't actually seen a book that tells you this pin is worth this, etc. Most people put a value on their pins but either the event or the meaning behind it. Think about what you like. For example, I wanted to collect them all :scared1:... yeah, not practical. So I traded and collected by favorite characters, like Belle, Tinker Bell, Pixar characters. From time to time there is a set that I just "love" and I have to trade or buy to have them all. "Help I am addicted to shopping for pins on ebay"....you get the point.

I know that I always bought a pin from the Yacht Club every time I stayed there. For me, it represented the resort I enjoy and the pin represented the year I went the on vacation.

There are no rules to pin collecting. And since you are just beginning, you can start your collection any way you want. Look at some of the links listed above and just see what you like. But be careful, before you know it you will have hundreds of pins and you can't figure out how that happened :rotfl: and forget about trying to calculate the money you have spent; it will scare you :scared1: .

Have fun and welcome to the pin trading world.

If you want to trade for nice, limited edition (LE), or high demand pins, you need to be able to trade like for like. As nice as it would be to trade a run-of-the-mill open edition pin for a pin with an edition size of 100, it is not going to happen.

So, what I do is occasionally but two of the same pin, one to keep and one to trade. This way I am trading an LE for an LE. I also find that as I go through my older pins, what I really loved a few years ago, doesn't do much for me now, so I am more willing to trade that pin for something else.

I am sorry that Pin Pics is getting out of the trading business, but I can understand their reasoning. I just think it is sad that there are scamers even in the pin trading world, how very un-Disney. :sad2:

BTW, I am YodaMouse on pin pics, if anyone wants to look at my trades and wants.

There are actually a set of books made by Tomarts which are like a value guide for pins. They are graded A+ to E for an estimate in their value. I don't think they list all the pins, but generally each news years edition features that years pins that have come out, and less luckily for me, it only features the american pins, whereas I have a vast quantity of ones from DLRP and the new sets of UK Disney Store pins...

Well said, and I totally agree on the eBay thing :P

I have a tendancy to collect anything that has Stitch on, Ride and Attraction/Hotel/Theme Park, Hidden Mickeys and anything else that looks pretty.

Has anyone collected any of the universal pins, some of them look quite cool, but I don't want to have to start a whole new collection of pins...

Have the Dis Unplugged crew covered pin trading in any of their previous podcasts?

Kevin used to collect/trade pins, but I believe he has retired from that somewhat (unless of course Lee Cockrell shows up with a bag of pins, right Kevin? ;)).

Other than that, they haven't really discussed pins as there are other forums devoted solely to pins and pin trading.
