Anyone done this? Is is worth the money? Any info about it, we're considering doing it.

Thanks.

It's funny that you posted this today, because I was looking at it last night and thinking that I've never seen any mention of it on the DIS.

So has anyone done it?

I did it when it was at it's introductory cost. I think I paid about $50 or $60. I thought it was worth it! I really took some time to place my pictures. For instance: pictures of my daughter with the princesses where each princess appears in the video. I was thrilled with my MK portion but my pictures didn't fit as well in some of the other segments. I wish I had a little more control over what you could do with it but I thought it was easy and fun and worth the money for us.

Feel free to ask me if you have any questions. I'll be glad to try to answer!

We haven't bought one of these yet but we did do like a demo of it with a recent trip that we had just had. As a matter of fact, I think they sent us an e-mail about it and that's how we found out about it. If I'm not mistaken, I think that's why we did the demo version. Anyway, we loved it from what we could see.

I actually found out about it here on the Dis.

I did it in February after my January trip, I combined all the trips we took in the past two years.

My nieces (3 & 5) LOVED it!! They loved watching themselves on TV. Not to mention seeing all the parts of Disney they love. I thought it was cool how you can even specify which resort. We stayed at the CR our last couple of trips so I used that which was really neat.

I also got it during the introductory rate, which was a really good deal I thought.

Those are really cute. I thought about doing one but decided to make one myself. I got to use whatever songs I wanted and make it as long as I wanted and get my pics in a good order and fade them in and out and use the words I wanted and such. It came out really cute. Granted they take a few hours to do and get done just right but they are so worth it. :goodvibes

I made one for myself, one for a friend who went to Disney, one for my parents and then one for a girl who saw mine and paid me to make her one so I figured they were pretty good. :rotfl:

I love watching ours. I set it to the song When you wish upon a star. So sweet!

Anyone else done one on their own?

If you've done this before, do you recall if they have a cruise chapter? We just returned from 10 days in WDW and a 7 day Disney cruise, and it would be great if they had a cruise section!

It looks like a lot of work, but fun!

I heard about this on the Dis and just ordered ours a few days ago. I'm technically challenged so I couldn't do it on my own, and the people here who've done it seemed very happy with the results.

You could set up 6 or 7 chapters, whatever combination you want: One for each of the four parks, plus up to 2 or 3 "Beyond the Parks" chapters. For these they ask which hotel you stayed at (or you can pick "No Resort" if you stayed offsite and I think you'll get a variety of hotel pics). If you choose one of the on site hotels, they'll use pictures of the hotel in the background of the "Beyond the Parks" chapter. I just checked and there's no "Disney Cruise" selection. The only drawback of the BTP chapters is that you can only use 7 pictures there. The parks chapters allow about 14-16 pic.s (you can use your own pics, photopass pics, or some from Disney's photo gallery). I like that the Disney music plays while your pics are scrolling by - music I've heard during the parades I think. I also liked that I could import our photopass pics and not have to pay for them.

Check it out at disneyphotomovie.com. I just paid about $49 for it ($54 with shipping).

I decided to do the photomovie before our trip, so while we were there I made sure I took lots of pics in each park, so I could make a chapter for each of the parks. It sort of forced me to take pics, when normally I'm too lazy to take a lot. And I made sure we stopped for the photopass pics so we'd have a selection of them to choose from - pics with the whole family, which we rarely get. It took a while to set it all up, but it was easy and fun too. I also tried to relate/time my pics with what was going on in the background - for instance, in EPCOT when they show Mickey scuba diving, I inserted a pic of my husband and kids looking into the stingray tank at the Living Seas. You can preview each chapter so you see where your pics are in relation to the background graphics. I tried to use as many pics of our family as I could, and as many chapters as I could - I figured this way I'd get the most for the $$ and even though the Disney photo gallery shots are nice, I wanted this to be about US at Disney, not just lots of Disney shots.

Hope this helps...

Thanks, Linda, for all your helpful information! I was trying to figure out how I could choose only 7 pictures from our 7-day cruise to put into the "Beyond the Parks" section. Impossible! I didn't know you can do more than one BTP section. Now I can add two extra chapters and choose the Contemporary (where we ate at Chef Mickey's) and the Animal Kingdom Lodge (where we ate at Boma) for my extra resorts. Then I can choose 21 cruise photos -- yeehaw! Thanks!!! :thumbsup2

I finally got mine ordered. It did take a long time to organize the pictures. I had a lot of problems with the previews - kept getting a message about a scripts problem and locking up my PC. Anyone else get this?

Tammy

P.S. Anyone remember how long it takes to receive the DVD?

Thanks for the information - I am hoping to purchase this after our October vacation! :thumbsup2

Tammy, yes, I also had a problem this past Thur. with the preview function. I thought it was just my PC! You'd get an error after you moved pic.s around just after previewing a chapter. I didn't have this problem about 2 weeks ago when I first started playing with this.

This sounds like something I would love to do for our upcoming trip in June.

WDWLinda: Did you have to pay anything when you signed up before your trip to look at the backgrounds, or can you sign up, take a look and then a month later put the pictures in and pay for it?

Thanks,

No, you don't need to pay anything up front. Go to disneyphotomovie.com and create a user/id password (if you've already created a user id/password for other official Disney sites, I think it may accept that). You can choose Preview Chapter (or something like that) from the home page to see about half of each chapter, or after you sign in you can go thru the steps to build a movie and preview each whole chapter.

Have fun!

Thanks for the info....but does anyone have a mac? Is it worth the $50 or is it something you can put on a DVD yourself? (pics and some quick scenes)?

I saw one this weekend of my brother and his family and thought it was great. I can't wait to try it on my next visit in August.

I ordered mine when they first came out and would do it again on our next trip. I used a mac for mine and had no problems. You could do one yourself but they use a lot of character interaction and special effects that are well worth the money.
