Disney Photomosaic Puzzles

Tonight we started putting together the 1026 piece Mickey Mouse photomosaic puzzle. Has anyone ever done one of these? Any suggestions on how to even begin to tackle the inside pieces, we have the outside together. We figure we would separate into colors.

We figure when it is all finished it would look awesome framed on the wall in our sons room. Hopefully he will come home from college and help us finish it.

No advice on the mosaic kind of puzzles, only a wish for good luck

We are working on a puzzle for DD11's room to hang up someday, only hers is a 3-D dolphin puzzle. It is only 500 pieces, but since they are 3-D the picture kind of moves and makes it very hard to match the pieces up. We re-did her room in a dolphin theme last year and this will look so nice in there, IF we ever get it done. We do have the outside pieces done finally!

I've done the Eeyore one. It was a good challenge.

DH picked out the Sorcerer Mickey for the next one, but I have not started it yet.

Lisa - those are really fun to work on. My best advice is only do it in a well lit room, and some days you'll fly through the puzzle with a lot of success, and other days it'll be your worst nightmare - as far as puzzles go.

Once you get the hang of the color combinations, it'll get easier. Do you have any sort of magnifying glass? Maybe something from one of Matt's toys? Sometimes that will help to look at the pieces on the box.

It's been a while since we did the few that we've done. So hopefully this is more fact than fiction: The pics that make up the puzzle were right-side up, and oftentimes you can tell that from the puzzle piece. The other odd tidbit of advice I have - and hopefully you'll follow this logic. If you are looking at a puzzle piece, and for lack of my imagination - we'll call the sides N,E,S,W (i.e north, east etc) if one piece "switches" pictures in the middle of the piece, (i.e. from n to s) the pieces above & below will also switch at roughly the same place. If the photo on 1 piece switches approximately 1/3 of the way over (again N to S), the pieces above and below will also have approximately the same photo switching spot. The pieces going from W to E will also switch at the same spots as the neighboring pieces.

Yes, we did the MICKEY one---not sure how to say we did it, except we did ,,,we worked in a VERY BRIGHT room as some one mentioned,,but at times the light really reflected off the pieces.. and the magnifying glass is a MUST,,some of those pieces look identical,,,,, but its is fun to do,,,a great RAINY day activity,,and it looks GREAT framed ,,, we got a bit larger frame and put the colored MICKEY EAR PAINT samples, from Home depot all around the frame,,,,(I will try and post a pic),,,we are working on the TIGGER one now,,that one seems harder...the whole ORANGE thing I guess ..have fun,,you will LOVE it when you are finished. We also did a Harley Davidson one , THAT was hard!!!
