I've read that there is no guarantee I'll get a specific photographer, so I was thinking about giving a couple of names so that I might get lucky and get someone really, really good. :)

Our VR pictures will mean a lot to us (since our wedding pictures were horrible thanks to our photographer - my idiot BIL). I'm terrified that the VR pictures won't be good! I'm even having nightmares about it!

So if you had a Disney photographer at your wedding (or VR) what was their names?

Thanks in advance!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your wedding pictures. :sad2:

I believe now you can request a photographer and have him/her guaranteed to shoot you wedding :yay:

Who to pick is very much dependent on your style, Disney have a website which showcases some of their photographers work so you can take a peek and see what you think:

I have always heard consistently good things about Ty on these boards, he also had his own website: http://www.tyboycephoto.com/

If you are worried and want something specific you could always hire an outside photographer to shoot your VR. Many couples have done this.

Personally, I liked Disney photographer, Mike shot our wedding ceremony and his pictures are lovely. We also had Amy for our MK photo session and whilst we personally didn't gel with her her photographs are great. If I am completely honest though for us hiring our outside photographer Randy Chapman was the best thing we did. He was amazing and gave us some beautiful shots and brought a lot of fun to our day.

I have seen some wonderful shots from Ty but I remember a thread which said that he was a little insensitive to larger brides - if that is an issue for you.

Although our wedding isn't until November I think we'd like to request Amy or Regina as when I look through all of the amazing photos on here it is always those 2 which stand out.

Plus for me when we've been photographed before I always feel more comfortable with a female photographer - but that is just my preference.

I had Ty and he was very nice (and I'm def a plus sized girl, i wear sz 16-18 ;) ). His pictures were very flattering to me. He shot from certain angles that were flattering, nothing straight on so I wouldn't look huge. I was worried about that but My MK pictures came out amazing.

Our photo site is no longer up, but we had Stephanie for all three of our shoots and she was GREAT! I do not take good photos and she did an excellent job. Some examples of her work for us can be seen at

On the Professional Elegance site look under the Disney Weddings/Trash the Dress drop down menu.

Good luck and enjoy your day!!!:cool1:

Just don't want anyone to get their hopes up - Disney still does not offer a guarantee when it comes to photographers, I think that's just a rumor floating around here.

We had Amy and loved her - we were very nervous as neither of us tend to "photograph well" but she did a great job, took our nervousness about the shoot down a notch, and gave GREAT instructions for those of us who are clueless about posing. She did both our MK/EPCOT shoot, and our dessert party and we got some great shots out of each!

We requested, and got, Regina. She was really great to work with - she put us at ease and made us look our best. I like her style too - a nice mix of portraits and creative shots. I had brought with me a sheet with some examples of pictures that I hoped to get but once we got in the moment I never did pull it out to show her. I was so excited when we got our photos and I realized she ended up getting almost all the ones on my wishlist even without planning it!:goodvibes

Thanks for pointing this out. I thought this had been confirmed. My apologies if this is not so. Fingers crossed it is true though! :woohoo:

We had Amy and Ty for our MK and AK shoot. They were great to work with! As a side note: I am a plus size bride and Ty was very nice and incredibly helpful.
Amy was great to work with and both DH and I are thrilled with our photos, they came out wonderful!

I had requested Amy or Regina, I got Amy since Regina had the shoot scheduled right after ours, I was very happy that I got one of my requested names! :cool1:

I had Stephanie for the wedding and Mike for our MK/AK bridal shoot, we also had Randy Stephanie didn't say much but she got some great shots and Mike was a blast to work with, plus I love our photos!

Actually, this has changed since your wedding. Just a few weeks ago we got word from the head of Disney Fine Art Photography that you can now schedule a specific photographer (within reason, of course—they'll have a backup if they're sick, just like any other photographer). :thumbsup2

Weird - I actually spoke to someone working for DFTW very recently and was told the opposite. She specifically said that she had heard that this was posted on the boards here, however it was just a rumor. She said that you can still put in the request but they don't make any guarantees with who ends up on the contract/shows up to do your wedding.

I just would hate for someone to get their hopes up until they actually talk to the team there about it themselves I guess...

We had Regina 3 weeks ago and lurrrrrrrved her! She was great and our friends and family loved her as well.

I feel like she worked magic to make me look pretty hahaha.

I spoke with Karen from Disney Fine Art Photography about a week ago and wanted to put in my requests for our MK/Epcot photoshoot. She said that she could put the request in but wedding ceremonies got the priority for photographers. So if my people were requested that day for a wedding I would be behind them in priority. :sad1:

I was kind of sad because I had also heard on these boards that you could now guaranty a photographer. Those photo-shoots are so expensive and a once in a lifetime opportunity. I'm really hoping I get one of my two picks that I requested.

BTW, when one of you posted that Ty is insensitive to plus size brides I got really scared. I am also one of those brides and he is my second choice as a photographer.

I requested and got Regina for our engagement shots and LOVED her! She was the perfect mix of friendly and professional. So easy to talk to which made us feel more comfortable in front of the camera. I've requested her for our wedding, and since we're local I told my photography coordinator that I'm open for dates as long as we get Regina! Let me know if you want the link to my engagement pics!

i can see why disney would want to have those booking a larger package get the priority, so i suppose that can be interpreted as no guarantee ahead of time if you are only doing the bridal portraits with disney. still, i like that you get a bit more consideration now, i thikn, then just whoever's name gets yanked out of a hat! we had regina with ty there assisting. they were both nice and i felt way more comfortable than i expected to. i'm certainly not skinny and i elt completely respected and all that.... we all want the great pictures and we did end up buying the (wayyyyyyy overpriced) CD, but i was prepared to just settle for the album and the experience - because it is the whole frolicing in a fluffy dress thing that you are really paying for!

unless you are going strictly DFAP for your entire wedding experience, i wouldn't stress on this too much at all. easy for me to say, i know, but worry about the weather or something instead!!!!!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I also requested Regina or Amy! They took my request and said they could have one of them do the shoot at MK for us!

Thank you all for your replies. I really appreciate them! I figure I'll give a couple of names and that way I'm sure to get someone we'd like. :)

And thank you for the web links too!

We had Joe as our secondary escape photographer, I like my photos but I dont think the quality is as good as Randy's (who we hired as an outside photographer) and had Joe for photojounalistic shots.

I have a few identical shots from both and Randy's are far sharper images. He did get some great photojounalistic shots though that would have been missed if he was not there as Randy was busy with the more posed ones.

This may sound like a stupid question, but did you have 2 photographers at your wedding?? If so, why did you choose 2? I was thinking of going that route, but I didn't know if it is worth it.
