I've been looking and looking for a diaper bag to bring to Disney, but I'm very picky! Finally, it hit me - design my own!!! I'm going to go to an Army Surpluss store and get a messenger bag from there, and then put Disney patches all over it. I've found many on the web and ebay, but I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere (on the web or otherwise) to get good ones cheep.
Also, DH wants me to do one in a Chinese / Japanese / Hindu theme with a Dragon, Koi fish, and chinese symbols. Anyone have any great suggestions on where to get patches like that?
And lastly, what about painting it with a stencil - anyone done anything like that? Any good suggestions on where to get stencils?

TIA!!!

I think you can find "Printable" fabric out there. Avery makes one, but I think there are others also. Just like the iron-on transfers, you then can print whatever design you come up with. Cut it out and you have a patch to sew on to your bag.

for a stencil, one way to do it.. (this is easy, but long to explain)

You can make your own silk screen, basically.

Take an embroidery hoop, and some sheer fabric, like those sheer curtains are made out of. Trace your picture that you want (after the fabric is in the hoop)

flip over the hoop, and paint the area you DON"T want the paint on with modge podge.

Let it dry, flip it back over (the way it was when you traced it) and now you can use fabric paint, just push it around with a sponge brush, and you have a stencil.

You can wash it out, and reuse it too.
