I did a speedtest.net app speed test at Magic Kingdom with my iPhone and had decent results.
Download - 2.71 Mbps
Upload - 1.89 Mbps

All things considered, not terrible. Beats ATT's "edge of nowhere" speeds.

I'll report on others as I get them.

I have ATT service and I'm very happy with it. But, thanks for your "study". I can't wait for what else you have to share. :rolleyes1

Though how many guests know about it? More people, less speed?

I have AT&T for my iPad. 3G and 4G are fast. The EDGE network may as well not even exist. Pages never load.

I was thinking the same thing.

Are there any signs or maybe something at the resorts that say there is wi fi in the parks?

Or is it the only people that know are posters on Disney fan boards which is a fraction of a percent of all guests.

Thanks for the update. I wonder if that speed will go down as more realize that wifi is available.

Those speeds are plenty fast for most needs unless you are trying to stream video.

I just want to use the "Lines" app on my Ipod touch from touringplans.com, and those speeds are plenty fast for that.

I just want it to be reliable enough that I can leave WiFi switched on the day we're in MK. Trying to acquire/reacquire signal will drain a battery in no time.

OP, did you leave your WiFi on throughout the day? If so, was your battery use close to normal, or higher?

I've used it all day today and it seems like I have more battery today. Maybe because it wasn't switching back and forth? Speeds seem to hold all day. Hopefully they'll be able to maintain these speeds.

No signs in the parks or resorts that tell of wifi in the parks, though the different wifi networks do pop up.

I was in MK today and used it two or three times. It connected and worked each time, but then I'd come back to it after a couple of hours and the connection was lost. Based on that minuscule sample only, I'd say the service is not yet reliable.

Excuse my lack of speed knowledge, but are the speeds at the parks and/or hotels fast enough to allow steaming video for skyping? Leaving my kids at home this trip and was hoping to stay connected via skpye on my iPod. Thanks!

I used it this past week at WDW and found it
to be unreliable. I couldn't use the laptop because it would take a really long time to get to each page. I just used the 3G on my phone.

Probably not, also for at least the park wi fi, they may block all video streaming since its a bandwidth hog.

Is there wifi in all of the parks or just MK? As Canadians we don't want to buy a US data plan if we can avoid it. Having wifi would be great to have to check line apps and to connect with each other.

Just MK for now.

A couple of you have mentioned your battery draining before the day ends. I recently got an iPhone and know exactly what you are talking about. To help take care of this for our upcoming trip to Disney, I bought one of those portable power paks. It is about the size of the iPhone and has two usb ports so you can charge 2 phones at the same time. We are planning on topping off our phones while having lunch.

I know that most of you probably already knew about these things but I figured there were some folks like me who aren't as up-to-date on the newest in the tech world.

I just got my first iphone in June. So this will be our first trip using apps to help navigate the parks. I have nothing on paper anymore, unlike last time when everything was in a folder that oops got forgotten at the hotel on multiple days. So all I have to say is

SWEET!!!:woohoo::yay:
