My .02 cents:

I would definitely choose a Magic Kingdom resort for your first time. There is something so amazing about being part of the Magic Kingdom 24/7. I would also not dismiss the Grand Floridian. We stayed there last summer and my grandson (age 13) loved it. He has also stayed at the Poly, Bay Lake Tower, Beach Club, Saratoga Springs, and the Wilderness Lodge so he knows his deluxes, lol. He did not find the Grand Floridian too girly or "precious" lol. If winning a trip is the only way you will ever be able to stay at the high priced Magic Kingdom resorts, I would definitely choose either Grand Floridian or Polynesian (grandson loves Polynesian too). The Beach Club is a beautiful resort, but I think a Magic Kingdom resort is the way to go for your first visit.

Oh boy, you will have so much fun!!!

I want to vent for a minute

My DH loves going to Disney even though we've only been twice. But I can't get him excited about this sweepstakes and he refuses to talk about what we would do "if" we won. He keeps saying we're not going to win so stop getting worked up cause it's going to hurt when it's over and we didn't win anything at the end of the month with you as excited as you are. All I have to say to that is I really hope and pray we're one of the lucky ones who wins because I'd love to see his face after we get that phone call after all his not so possitive comment! So my fingers are crossed anyways!

About how much out of pocket did you have to pay when they called you?? We are a very tight budgeted family and I am scrimping and saving all I can but am VERY worried about the extra money!! Please please share your numbers with me!!

I guess you would need the airfare and the park ticket.

Some of the DLX hotels will sleep 5.

Hopefully one of last years winners can help.

Just received a call from NY. It was a 607 area code so I should have known not to get my hopes up....but for a fleeting moment I thought that perhaps Ventura may have expanded operations in NY Obviously I was wrong and it was a wrong number. At least I am able to laugh about it AFTER the fact!

Secondly, I am not too sure on the details, but if you get a giftcard with your trip, would there be anyway you could use that towards your 5th person? I don't know how the logistics of that would work, but that would be awesome if you could!

They wouldn't be able to use the gift card to book the flight (since I think it's a Disney gift card), but since you can book tickets when you check in at the desk, I don't see why they couldn't use the GC for that!

I'm so excited for the winners, I love living vicariously through them.

One savings tip we use is, whatever we save on our grocery bill ($25-50 per large shopping trip) we add a Disney gift card to our bill from the "gift card mall" at our grocery store. That could be used for tickets, meals, treats, or additional costs.

I had a missed called from a 214 phone number yesterday. I got all excited until I realized when I called them back I was looking for a 212 number. Talk about a big let down.

We just woke up and while they were eating breakfast our convo went like this:
Me: I don't feel like going to work today
DH: I don't want to go either, we need a vacation
Kids: We already went to the beach DAD!
Me: Ohhhh, I gotta run upstairs and check on the wash.
DH: Well I guess I'll go get dressed too boo hoo
(Kids continue to eat breakfast and watch -- of course -- the Disney channel)
(We come back down with our matching Mickey shirts and holding shirts for them)
Kids: Why are you wearing that?
DH and Me: Cause we're going to Disney World RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! Get these shirts on and let's roll bounce! Grandpa will be here in 10 mins to take us to the airport
(Kids in utter shock and amazement, then they begin jumping up and down like tiny crazy people).

OMG, I'm getting misty just thinking about it. Such a great surprise!! In the words of one my favorite commercials...

I live in The Dalles! And no one here knows yet so shhhhhh dont tell my secret!! Some one else asked but my boys are 12, 9, & 7. When we go they will be 13, 10 and 8!! Now I am leaning towards October lol Any tips for October travel??

Congrats! We just went last October and it was great! Crowds were pretty low... except for the weekend (which included Columbus Day). So I'd avoid that weekend if you could!
