Disney Parks " Disney Time" Sweepstakes- Any Other Winners?

Congratulations kirby! Youre going to have such a great time. I remember my first time going. Just curious approximately what time did you enter?

Hoping today is the day! Need some magic in our life right now and this would be perfect! I'm holding off on booking our next Disney vacation until this contest is over and it's killing me not to book it! pixiedust:

Congrats to Kirby!

Another day of entering! It's become a routine.

Please pick me next! I really want to take my grand-daughter. She loves the Disney Princesses. (and the pirates too!)

Congrats Kirby....how exciting. I just entered again and keeping fingers crossed. We have a june trip planned, but who wouldn't want to go again!

No need for a new thread until this one reaches 250 pages. We are nowhere near that yet. :)

When we get to 250, the OP (or anyone else for that matter) can start a Part 2, link to it in this thread and direct people to go there. Easy enough when the time comes. (And there will always be those who don't actually read the thread :confused3 but will come to post and miss the notice of the new thread, so until the mods close the thread, which sometimes can take a while, we will just have to keep directing folks to the new thread.)

But, no need for a new thread yet.

Well I had my Fed Ex moment yesterday. I was on the phone talking to a friend of mine and looked out the window to see Fed Ex truck backing up into my driveway. Told her to hold on and went outside to greet him. He walked up to me and handed me a small box. I just smiled said thank you and started to go back into the house.

Then he says oh wait a minute I have one more delivery for you. My heart started pounding and I held my breathe as he went to the front seat of the truck. He was rummaging around there for what felt like hours. He reappears and walks back to me with a very large plastic bag. He hands it to me and says have a good one then walks away.

It was a Disney Princess sleeper set I had ordered for my grand daughter for her birthday. At least it was something to do with Disney. Oh well, maybe next time. Entered again today we will see.

Good luck everyone and congrats to our two winners so far.

Put in our entries just now. Lots and lots of pixie dust for everyone. Watching Disney parks travel DVD with my breakfast right now. Always puts me in a good mood.

Kirby I second the unofficial guide book. I buy one every year just to see what's new and to collect them. They are awesome and so are the custom maps! And you can order a free Disney travel dvd too somewhere on the site and it shows a little of each park, resort and things to do outside both of those and gives tips.

So here's my let down story:
We are about to go to WDW...on 1/25 and booked ME months ago. I had to change our flight last week (delay it by 3 hours). I called ME on Sat to change the info for the ME. The lady said they'd mail out new ME tickets and luggage tags on Mon...I expected them yesterday via snail mail. When they didn't come I called and was told by this person that I would NOT get new ME stuff and could use the old ME stuff. Just now there's a knock at the door and DH says it's UPS. I open the door to see a next day air envelope that has return address of Celebration Place in Celebration FL....I am hoping just maybe we won...NOPE, it's the new ME stuff. Ah...oh well. I am going to WDW in 8 days...:cool1:

Thanks for the clarification Ms. Potts! I cannot imagine getting to 250 posts but you never know.

As for you Kirby, I meant to say this before. I love the idea of a surprise for the boys. We did that for our kids and it was amazing. There are plenty of neat ways to tell them and you can google surprise Disney trip or check out you tube, people are so creative.

I LOVE some of the videos I have seen. It's a hard secret to keep though...we almost slipped a bunch of time.

We just woke up and while they were eating breakfast our convo went like this:
Me: I don't feel like going to work today
DH: I don't want to go either, we need a vacation
Kids: We already went to the beach DAD!
Me: Ohhhh, I gotta run upstairs and check on the wash.
DH: Well I guess I'll go get dressed too boo hoo
(Kids continue to eat breakfast and watch -- of course -- the Disney channel)
(We come back down with our matching Mickey shirts and holding shirts for them)
Kids: Why are you wearing that?
DH and Me: Cause we're going to Disney World RIGHT NOW!!!!!!! Get these shirts on and let's roll bounce! Grandpa will be here in 10 mins to take us to the airport
(Kids in utter shock and amazement, then they begin jumping up and down like tiny crazy people).

OMG, I'm getting misty just thinking about it. Such a great surprise!! In the words of one my favorite commercials...
Waffles for breakfast $4
Matching t-shirts $40
Surprising your kids with a Disney vacation - PRICELESS!

Okay, well that's my two cents.

Pixie Dust y'all!!!!!

Good morning Dis Pals,

Way to go Kirby!!! That is amazing news. This is a trip that you and your family will NEVER forget and it's your first one -- OMG! That is SO fantastic and I'm so happy for you.

The Dis boards are a wonderful resource and you will get oodles of tips and tricks that will lead you to an awesome vacation. Soooo, welcome to the Dis family! We are here to help, so ask away!

I cannot believe we are at nearly 1100 posts. Does anyone know how to start a new thread or whatever? I thought I remember reading that threads are limited to 500??? Just want to make sure we can continue to chat and live vicariously through Gantu and Kirby :)

Kirby -- we went in 2011 at the end of September, first part of October. We had an awesome trip and I HIGHLY recommend the Halloween Party. It was fantastic. The Boo to You parade was so great and we still have that song stuck in our heads! But, beware...the temp can be HOT! We had temps in the 90s and the humidity was oppressive. But, if you are prepared for it, you will do just fine. If you can go mid-to-late October, the weather may be a little cooler for you.

My son really enjoyed getting his hair cut at the Harmony Barber Shop. He's little, but my husband said he wants to get his hair trimmed when we go next time. They did a great job and it was reasonably priced. They even put some electric blue mousse in his hair and did a tiny Mickey ears decal on the side. He loved it! Very festive!

I have never stayed at the Poly, but the folks on here RAVE about it. I've been wanting to try the Grand Floridian, but the prices are :scared1:! I think you are doing the smart thing staying at a monorail resort especially if you are going to be spending a bunch of time at the Magic Kingdom. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and thought it was fantastic. My kids loved the "log cabin" feel and the ride in the boat over to the MK was super cool.

Enjoy this special time planning and waiting for your trip and many, many heartfelt congratulations on your win. I hope you and Gantu have fabulous trips!

Please keep us posted on your next steps.

Best of luck!!

Shea&Van looks like we were at WDW the same time. Our last time was end of Sept/early October in 2011. Our last full day at Disney we were at MK for the 40th Anniversary on October 1st. You are right it was SO hot the week were there. Felt like we were there in June instead of October.

Congratulations Kirby!! You are going to have such an amazing time!! The last 2 times we have been to WDW was end of Sept/early October and I love it. Hardly any lines, most everything is open, weather is perfect. Just a great time of year to go. When we there in 2011 we walked on to rides with less than 5 minutes of waiting. We went to MNSSHP in 2006 and instead of watching the parade we went to Splash Mountain and rode it 5 times in a row. We didn't even have to get off the ride. We would get to the exit and the CM said want to go again and we all just yelled yes and off we went again. :cheer2: We did watch parts of the parade from Splash Mountain. :goodvibes

Congratulations also to Gantu!!!

Hoping by posting on the boards I will get some pixiedust:

Been entering every day at all different times and running for the phone every time it rings. Here's to hoping my time is coming. :)

Good Luck everyone!!!

Great story! I got a little misty too! We surprised our kids at Christmas for our upcoming trip next month. It was too hard to keep the secret any longer . I'm so jealous you were able to do it .

Congrats Kirby! I'm so glad there is hope for the rest of us. And there is nothing more magical than your first trip . Your kids will be so excited .

Entering again today...DH and I talked last night about when we would go if we won. We already have a trip planned for this May/June. I said we should go at Christmas, like the first week of December. DH says, why not just make our May/June vaca longer? Hmmm... I think a separate trip would be much better! Oh the planning we do for a non-existent trip...:rotfl2:

I would love to do that but I just cannot keep my lips zipped until that last day. I love the anticipation and excitement of talking with them about it for at least a few weeks beforehand.
Although last year just me and ODS went and I did what you did - told him right before we were leaving for the airport (at 5:00 a.m.) but there was more of a befuddled ".......huh?.....wha?....." then the jumping up and down, lol.

I agree.... DEFINITELY a separate trip.

We're going in April and I'm afraid if we win DH will want to replace the April trip with this trip. Uh.....no, we will be taking a 2nd trip -- not going on 1 trip for free!!

I actually considered not telling him if we won, so he would not suggest replacing our trip! At least now I know he would consider an add-on! We have already budgeted for this trip, so anything else would just be a bonus!

lol, you took the words right out of my mouth. At first I thought maybe I'd wait a couple months to tell him, like in March, and tell him it's too late to get a refund for our April trip (he has no clue how it works). But then I was thinking since I decided I would choose DLR for our prize, I could just tell him that we won a trip to DLR.....leaving out the part about being able to select WDW if we wanted. :thumbsup2

Okay Ladies (and gentlemen) we need some major pixie dust here!! Hopefully today is the day when someone else gets picked!! Ok to those who won last year and had 1 extra person. About how much out of pocket did you have to pay when they called you?? We are a very tight budgeted family and I am scrimping and saving all I can but am VERY worried about the extra money!! Please please share your numbers with me!!
