I hope this is an OK place to post this. I just got back from Mobile/Daphne/Gulf Shores, AL and didn't even know about the Disney outlet in Foley! Is it worth visiting when/if we pass through the area again? What sorts of things do they have (theme park items, or Disney store items?) and do they have good prices? I'm thinking about getting my kids some pins for trading. Would this be a good place?

We're hoping to go back to WDW in September and it would be fun to have some surprises for the kids. IF we go, it'll be a quick trip to use up our park hopper tickets.

Thanks for any advice!

Anita

Hi! I love in Spanish Fort, just north of Foley so we do the outlet mall frequently. I am HEARTBROKEN to tell you they are closing the Disney Store there effective immediately (in fact, I think it's supposed to be gone this week). The closest one to us now, according to the CM at the store, is in Tennessee. I have found some amazing deals there and was terribly bummed out to find they are closing... There is a Disney Store at the mall in Mobile, but they don't have alot of good buys.
Sorry for the rotten news.

NOOOOO!!!!

Maybe we can go to the outlet in Orlando, unless that's closed, too.

Thanks for the response.

Hi, I'm originally from Mobile. We currently live in NC. We still have a Disney Store in our mall here. From what I have been reading though, most of the stores are closing because TCP bought them and will be combining it into their stores. I'm sure the deals won't be as good, but in my opinion the catalogs actually have more items than the stores did. Don't get me wrong, I go in the Disney Store every chance I get! It just brings a little of the magic back! I'm not sure about the one in Orlando. HTH

Actually, the Disney Outlet in Foley is going to be open until June now. They are trying to renogotiate their lease, according to the manager I talked to on Monday. Hopefully they can get something worked out, as I am going to be sooo sad if they close. Right now they have a bunch of sleeping bags (lizzie, buzz, tinkerbelle) and pajamas, cookie jars, some household items. But, overall their stock is really low from what it has been in the past. If you PM me before you come on your trip, I'll be glad to find out if they are still open when you come.

Thanks to all of you!

At this point, it looks like we'll be there sometime around Memorial Day. Hopefully, they'll still be open. If not, there are other fun things to do!

Anita

Well if all else fails, and they end up closing the first of June, you might get in on some great clearance deals over Memorial Day!

On the way home from the World last week, we stopped in the Disney outlet on I-95 near St. Augustine. They seemed to have some good deals on some things. The prices were no different for mugs and the Mickey pasta, but neckties were $9.99 as opposed to $30. at WDW.

The Disney store in Foley is a Disney catalog outlet. I absolutely love this place!! We go to Gulf Shores every Christmas and we make several stops at this store!! I will be so upset if they close it.

My best buy that I ever got there was a big Mickey Icon rug for 5.99. I thought I saw it in the catalog for over $30!! It's beautiful in my Mickey bathroom!!

We've also been to the Disney catalog store in Pigeon Forge, TN. It's the same kind of store.

what a small world, We just moved to spanish fort from pcola...

I grew up in Foley, and the outlets are nice, just look over the things carefully before you buy them, some things are marked down because of defects....I have gotten some steals at the polo outlet of defected stuff that you can't notice... ;)

Just wanted to say hello from a former Mobilian who spent way to much money in Foley. I have family in Bay Minette and Bon Secour.

Southern4sure, I have thought several times that I was going to PM you and ask you if that was Mobile Bay in the background of your pic. I've seen you mention before that you had lived in Alabama. How long ago did you move? My DH's family, and family business are here, so we will be here forever!

used to be more like a true outlet than it is now. It was in a larger space, was not decorated as much like a "real" Disney Store (as it is now) and was PACKED with merchandise! If you hit it right, you could load up with great deals especially after a major holiday (when merchandise was being returned).
When it moved and changed, the amount of merchandise dropped, the "deals" dropped and it felt more like a lower level Disney Store. We still go but it is a shame it is not what it once was!

LOVE the Foley area!!!

:wave2: Yep, it is Mobile Bay. The pic was taken about a year ago in Fairhope...Not the big public pier but a smaller public pier near. We moved to Tampa on Jan. 24. The move wasn't a have to but an option we decided to act upon. I miss my family and friends but we love it here and it is closer to WDW.... :cool1:

It is nice seeing and chatting with home folk!

P.S. I thought we were going to be in Mobile our entire lives also.

Hi fellow Foley lovers!!!!!! We live in P-cola between the back gate of NAS and Perdido Key. My DH is one of the mgrs.of the new "retail giant" in Gulf Shores. I often do the outlets when I meet my DH for lunch. My van can't seem to go home w/o stopping at the outlets!! :rotfl: I am thrilled the Disney Outlet is staying open longer. They closed our store in our mall so that was the closest thing to us. We will make an occasional trip to Colonial in Mobile if we are "jonesing" really bad for a Disney fix!!!!!!!!! Hope to see you all there on Memorial weekend!!!!!!!

I found the Disney Outlet at Hanger Outlets in Foley to be a let down. Pins were WAAAAY overpriced and store's selection was just okay. I ended up with 2 nemo plushes at 5.99 each. Dont waste your time. I've found much better deals at regular disney stores. I will still go back to the outlets, but I live close enough to do so.

I just went to the outlet store in Foley today---and I have GREAT news! The manager tells me they are attempting to re-negotiate their contract and they anticipate they will be staying. On the down side, their merchandise had gotten very sparse so they are in the process of re-stocking. With that being said, they did not have much in the way of sales/good deals right now, but if the past is any indication, that will get better in the months to come. I was able to get a minnie mouse dress, shoes, and gloves after halloween for less than $20 whereas it has been about $50 for it all before the holiday.

I was at the disney outlet store at Foley, AL today and was informed by the manager that their contract is in re-negotiation but that they are anticipating they will be able to stay open. On the downside, their stock had gotten really low so at the present time, they are having to restock and sales are low. I expect if the past is any indication, that will improve and we should start seeing good sale prices in a few months.

This is great news, I really hope it works out.

Crisrn, I guess we should have ourselves a mini DIS meet sometime with all the local DIS'ers on this thread! :) I had seen a few Mobilians post before, but never Baldwin Co. folks!

We live in Tallahassee FL does any one know where the closest Disney store is to me? I can't find it on the web, it just redirects me to disney direct. :cheer2:
