Disney Offering AP's Valid for 13 Months!

I'm really curious to see how this will play out for me. I'm still sitting on a couple old Premium vouchers for my mom and me that I bought shortly before they were all gone from the Disney Stores. Our plan has always been to activate them December 31 (last day they're valid for activation to get the Sig+). Our passes the past year were from the other two Premium vouchers we bought at the same time and I deliberately let our passes lapse at the end of our Thanksgiving trip since we won't be back until NYE anyways.

This extra month would be incredible since it would keep us from being limited to just NYE next year for the possible last day of our trip. But not holding my breath. Definitely asking, though, since I'll be activating during the promotion.

Would be an incredible deal considering what I paid for the vouchers versus what the pass they issue for it actually costs.

I'd recommend getting whatever they say down in writing or at least getting the name of the person you speak with upon purchase if you plan to wait to activate and they say that's okay.

Maybe I'll email like Figment did and see what they say so it's in writing. The wording clearly says purchased. And I checked, they have not changed the wording to clarify activated. And they are including renews through next year, so I don't see why it shouldn't be purchased with activation before expiration date.

So irritating that the disneyland site doesn't clarify that they need to be activated by 2/11/17 or some other date. We arrive in Anaheim on the 18th but our first day in the parks won't be until the 20th of that month if I purchase APs because of blackouts. I would hate to go this route only to find out that I then don't get an extra month. Too risky. I think I will just purchases tickets so I can use them immediately and then upgrade to APs.

If you do, please report back!

Has anyone received anything definitive from Disney about whether you can purchase now and activate in the fall and still get the extra month?

I purchased prior to the announcement and just activated them this month and received the extra month.

So I decided it was best just to email guest services and get confirmation in writing. I love that it actually addresses and states when it must be activated by. I underlined it. Anyway, here it is including my original email at the bottom:

Hi there,

I plan to purchase several deluxe APs. If I purchase them by February
11th but do not activate them until February 20th, will they be valid
for 13 months (or only 12)?

This is great to know! Thanks so much for posting. I'm going this weekend and plan to upgrade our tickets when we are there.

It looks like a couple of other people have already reported this, but with inconsistent information always floating around I figured the more official responses we get the better. I emailed guest services so I could get confirmation in writing about the deadline for activating the passes under the promotion. They responded "You must purchase your pass by Feburary 11 and you have until November 16 2017 to activate it for that 13 month offer."

So for anyone on the fence, like I am, the consensus seems to be building that vouchers purchased now but not activated until later in the year will still be eligible. If you're counting on this for your plans, I would still suggest sending an email so you can have your own written confirmation to point to in case you get a CM with a different take on it when you go to activate the passes.

Thank you guys for getting the confirmation. That is how it should be as it does clearly say purchased by. This makes me so happy. We are going the week of June 19 for a week and getting APs with a plan of a few short trips throughout the year and another long trip the following summer. The extra month means we could choose the same week (or later) the following year instead of being required to go at least a week earlier. Yeah to avoiding June grad nights.

Might be a dumb question, but can you do the 12 month financing with buying a voucher? My AP isn't eligible to renew until a few weeks after the Feb 11 deadline. If I could just buy a new one and not activate it until I am going to use it, that would be something to consider, however, I don't have the $800+ to plop down in Feb.

There was a renewal deal too where you could renew by next November and get the same deal.

We got new Deluxe AP's this holiday season. They were purchased at a retail Disney Store, and look like gift cards. They have a cardboard sleeve that advertises the promotion. It clearly states when the pass (or gift voucher, in this case) needs to be purchased by (2/11), and it also says that it must be redeemed by November 16, 2017.

So, while it might be unclear on the website, it is spelled out on the passes purchased at the retail store.

Thank you so much, while that stinks for us (our visit isn't until December) it is good to know!

Just so I understand this: I am going to WDW in early November of 2017, then returning in March of 2018. I was planning on buying Annual Passes. So if I buy my pass the first week of February 2017, and start using it the first week of November of 2017, it won't expire until December of 2018? Is this correct????

This is for Disneyland Resort in California. I'm not sure what promos there are for WDW.

Sorry, as Lisa said this is the Disneyland boards. I think WDW also had 13 months available, but the start and end date were earlier.
