Disney News Round Up

Beginning January 5 2015 and continuing through to March 6, Cinderella's royal table at the castle will be closed for refurbishment. The princess character dining experience is expected to reopen to guests on March 7 2015.

Are they doing anything new/special with the refurb? It seems like a long time to be closed.

$299 a person...

They're attacking the borders of good taste like the Lannisters at this point...

I wish somebody would just set the difference between "can sell it" and "should sell it"

No all the "insiders" say executives wanted this thrown together for DHS and maelstrom is still on the table for maelstrom.

What's opening on July 8th... You must ask yourself...

For once...I think all this thrown together frozen stuff is directly to draw some heat away from a competitor in town.

That's probably good for us.

Yes DA opening and the summer mean high crowds in Orlando. So it would make sense to do something with Frozen. Little girls will just want to flock to MK and DHS for frozen.

Agree...

And it took 20 years...but Comcast has officially taken the title for doing movies/showbiz in Orlando WAAAYYYY better than disney.

That is the truth. Disney is doing more "patent nostalgia" with fantasyland and Pixar overlays...
But competition is good for the consumer...even if the size and recognition advantage is still hugely tilted

Comcast has the cash and the stones to fight disney...they are a corporate equal....

What they lack in Orlando is land

Comcast has stepped up their game but disney quality?

Their internet/cable service is horrible. The very mention of that name in a IT circle ushers in a cringe.

Sure they make cash but lack the years of following disney offers. I constantly hear but harry potter on these boards. Despite its masterful work it will never have the effect of a brand like Star Wars.

I love potter but much like other great artists she wants control. Lucas is about the $$. Potter is a flash in the pan. It lacks the table top games and constant reinvention that made Star Wars a empire.

I was commenting on their ambition and cashpile more than "quality"....Comcast cable may not be as good as the quality of Aladdin...
But does that matter?

And what they have built in the last five years is easily as good as Disney's efforts...
The Harry potter expansions are no question as inventive and detailed as fantasyland and toy story mania...

Remember...they have cherry picked alot of talent because Disney refused to pay...

Just a specific observation...not a blanket generalization at this point

comcast wasnt responsible for the last five years at universal. The only thing that they added was transformers and that was at hollywood so they just brought it over. Harry was in the pipeline before they took over and the main reason people rave about it isJK and warner brothers are so picky about Harry that they wouldn't allow anything to not pass their inspection. The last big thing other than harry was that terrible coaster that gives people whiplash and goes down on a regular basis and as a pooh size person, i can,t ride most of the rides anyway.

Yes but before comcast the large and frequent construction wasn't happening. Now all universal is doing is building and taking down. Disney did this in the past as well it was the 80s and early 90s. Now disney is focused on china and their growing market. Comcast is focused on fixing what's here before they move on. Comcast isn't responsible for the managing of the parks but what they are responsible for is the money being invested in the parks. With multiple hotels now looking to be build within the next few years, some maybe even timeshare types are being talked about. And the kong construction happening universal isn't stopping. And honestly disney doesn't need to do anything huge right now they are doing good things, disney springs, avatar, frozen events ( good because it will bring in money), and eventually Star Wars. Star Wars will be a huge thing for disney if done right but I still think we are a ways away from it.

I have a reservation for the regular tea on the 23rd of August and was told it was at Citricos too. The reservation is for 1:20 which is much earlier than normal. They said it allowed them to reset the restaurant afterwards for dinner. Apparently the princess tea is around 10am, followed by the normal tea offering just like the Garden View.

It will be interesting to get a change in scenery.

It must be changing to a Frozen themed experience. In fact, everything that closes for refurbishment from now on will reopen with a Frozen theme.
