With previous after hours, fireworks were always just before closing on party nights. The parties started at the same time the park closed. It would make flong lines at tge headliners because non-party guests always get in line minutes before closing. They never built in a buffer between closing and party starting at the MK.
Thank you! I went digging through past schedules and it looks like some party nights fared better than others. When Magic Kingdom closed late (like 10pm), there was a 45 min to 1 hour buffer between the start of fireworks and the start of the party. If Magic Kingdom closed early (like 8pm), then fireworks started right when the party started. I was fine with no difference between closing time and party time, but I was expecting at least a fireworks buffer. We were planning to get tickets, but for this and other reasons, it might not be worth it to us. We'll keep an eye on it!

Perhaps I wasn't clear. I meant that fireworks would start before closing, but the park is essentially closed by the time they are over. I would not expect any buffer at all. If the park closes at 9, the party starts at 9 and yes, that first hour is pretty much blown on non-party goers thinning out and moving through the line after having gotten in line right at closing time. It was a complaint I always had with the after hours events, especially since they didn't really push people out of the park- just checked for bands to get on rides. With standard after hours it really wasn't an issue- there was absolutely nothing to do but ride rides so people left quickly and the parks were so empty that it wasn't costing you much. They were a bit better when it was an event that had specialty shows and/or fireworks, like Villains and MNSSHP, but since BooBash doesn't and I wouldn't expect a hard push to clear the park completely. They need to build at least a 30 minute buffer in, but rarely do.

This is what I’m hoping too. They might. Right now for August Boo Bash the park closes 9p and party starts 9:30p, that schedule is posted to Sept 4th.

After Sept 4th the party starts at 9pm but park hours aren’t posted yet. Orlando sunset time loses about a minute/day that season so fireworks can happen earlier after Labor Day (vs August). They could close & do fireworks at 8:30p, then most of the day guests will be thru ride lines by 9p and party guests can see fireworks without it eating into their party time. Hope they go this direction.

Yeah, that's frustrating. I would want the fireworks completely done before official party time, not starting at or near the same time. Crowds aside, I wouldn't want to spend official party time watching the fireworks. I guess we'll have to wait for August firework schedules to be released and also see if any park times get adjusted. We're coming up on our ADR date, so I'm trying to firm up details!

With all due respect to mrsap and all the members of this thread, I wholeheartedly agree that this thread can be whatever the original poster wants it to be, within the guidelines and rules of the DIS. But since this forum is a NEWS and RUMORS forum, and this thread is more of a COMMUNITY type thread, perhaps the answer is to move it to the COMMUNITY forum, and ask a MODERATOR to set up a NEWS & RUMORS thread here with more emphasis on verified and sourced articles.

Seems to me to be a win-win, in that the dancing gifs can continue to be posted and enjoyed by all who want to participate, and those looking for news and latest info can find it more easily.

Just my two cents.

Ok this is just an idea and probably not a very good one. But what about two threads? One.. this thread with all its fun and dancing and lighthearted banter.
The second one a locked thread where only the announcements are posted as they roll in.
For example let’s say package pick up returns . Mrsap would put the news in here and we would all react and dance and be fun but then she copies it in the locked sticky and it’s there for quick access and people who just want the news straight , no chaser .
Is that even possible ? I definitely don’t want to suggest more work for mrsap , but I really appreciate the fun thread she has going here and it might be able to cut down on bickering and such .

I was glad to read about the haunted mansion in the stretching room being re-open, for so many that’s a real symbol of things starting to go back to normal so to speak. Kind of a “you don’t know what you’ve got until it gets closed on you “ type of thing!
We once hit Haunted Mansion at rope drop and had that stretching room and the whole ride to ourselves ! It was so strange and is such a great memory!

A few years ago, my daughter and I rode Haunted Mansion during MNSSHP while most guests were watching the parade, and it was practically deserted! I didn’t see anyone else on the vehicles. This was also the time when our doom buggy got stuck during the part where it is going up the track a bit, which was just great lol

So, in other news, The Laughing Place play area by Splash Mountain has reopened!! (WDW)

November was our first big WDW trip (usually Disneyland folks) so I'm excited that when we go this week (4 days!!!) we'll get to see all these pre-shows/play areas we missed that DL doesn't have. That in itself is super exciting!

My son loves RR and TOT so hope those return too. I'm a wuss and don't ride those but I go through the queue with him so imagine I'll get to see them too before I chicken exit at the loading area?

Not sure if this was posted but seeing reports on the DIS and other sites that traditional rope drop is back at both HS and Epcot. Past few days folks have been held at the rope with rides not always starting early like they were before.

I mean... this is the one thing I liked how it was so we could just hustle to where we wanted to be when we arrived. Ah... oh well. Should be interesting! Any word if this is happening at AK and MK too?
I have seen reports of it at DHS on other threads. I've not seen/heard anything from AK and MK yet, but definitely keeping my eyes and ears open since we're there in a few short weeks.

We'll be there next week so I'll report back on what rope drop is like. Really hoping at least for AK we can get at least our one day there without normal rope drop. 🤞 Seems like the mad FOP dash is more doable without it.

Yeah, I was so excited for the possibility of arriving up to an hour early and jumping on rides. However, I'm hoping this is at least a sign that early entry will be restored for resort guests.

This is from a January DPB article:

"Early Theme Park Entry: We know how much guests enjoy extra park time, so coming later this year as part of our 50th anniversary celebration, Disney Resort hotel guests and guests of other select hotels will be able to enjoy more fun with 30-minute early entry to ANY theme park, EVERY day."
