i understood that but the parties have been oversold for years with horrible crowds - lots of complaints flood in every year and yet they still had them. People rave about them. So while they’ll get the complaints, they’ll still have enough willing to buy that it won’t matter.
I have not been to a MVMCP since 2017, but went to several MNSSHP's. I will say that I agree with you. The last Halloween Party that I attended in 2019 was extremely crowded. Conversely, the After Hours events I attended were extremely un-crowded. Party vs. After Hours were 2 wildly different events for many reasons.

Update - if not already posted - the link is working now (no more Stitch Someone Ate the Page)... Disney Very Merriest After Hours will take place from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM on select nights, from November 8 through December 21, 2021. Tickets will go on sale next month, so continue to check for updates. Event tickets will grant admission to Magic Kingdom park as early as 7:00 PM
I'm scared for the cost. An extra hour, plus fireworks, plus it says holiday treats are included in addition to the normal ice cream, popcorn, and drinks.

Boo Bash is wildly succcessful. People can’t get tickets fast enough.
It was popular enough that they’ve cancelled MVMCP and replaced it with another mini event.
I doubt we’ll ever see the real parties again.
We can’t actually say they cancelled MVMCP due to boo bash. They may have already been planning to have the after hours for Christmas too. I think OP is correct. Until the event actually happens you won’t know how successful boo bash is - definitely successful in pre-sales, but if the majority that go don’t like it and wouldn’t buy again it’s not actually successful as a repeat event. Time will tell. For now it’s all speculation!

Quick question, does anyone know why they list the actual hours 9pm - 1am for the Christmas event, but in the Boo Bash info, they just say ticket holders will be able to get in the park at 7pm, but they don’t list the actual hours of the event?? Did I miss that somewhere?

I think that was because the Boo Bash event had different start/end times depending on the date. This Christmas After Hours appears to have consistent start/end times.

That makes sense, I’m just curious why they didn’t list the actual duration of Boi Bash in the official description. I’m assuming it’s going to be 4 hours long just like the Christmas After Hours event, but it doesn’t look like they actually state that anywhere, or I’m just missing it lol.

and I know some folks are quite upset since the Boo Bash and the new Merriest party seem to have replaced, if at least for now, the regular after hours party, and I wonder if they'll even bring back the larger parties or if they'll just become a "remember when...." event?

I never made it to the big parties but I'm super excited about this upcoming Merriest party!

We are planning on Oct 2022 - so I wonder if it will be more than Boo Bash but less than MNSSHP??

From my experience, the Parties and the After Hours events are just totally different animals. It's like comparing apples and oranges.

BOO Bash tickets sales were for onsite stays stays only that first week, and you had to call. After the first week they opened to everyone and you could buy online.
I tried calling the dedicated ticket line around 100 times and couldn’t even get a connection to be put on hold. I read on these boards to call the ‘Enchanted Extras’ line.

On Day 1 the call went thru after a few attempts. I hit zero a few times for general help, when they answered I asked to buy BOO tickets. They transferred me over and the wait was around 15 minutes, then I was able to buy after I gave my room confirmation #.
Some people calling the dedicated ticket line tried for days. Yikes. The other line is much easier to get thru and much shorter hold time.

oh I 100% agree with your statement!

But, I wonder if Disney is over hosting bigger parties like before, and have a new "smaller, faster" version they're going with now re-branded to be the After Hours events?

We were supposed to go to our first Villains After hours event in June 2020, but we all know how that turned out....I'm just ready and super excited to hopefully experience an after hours event in November.....as soon as they publish the dates!

Thanks!! I’m making a note of this

This will definitely sell out, maybe more quickly than Boo Bash. I will miss the parties, which I don't believe will return. Disney can apparently make more money with themed after-hours events by charging more and cutting out the expense of entertainment and parades that came with the parties. While we never watched regular parades, we went to the parties specifically for parades, entertainment, and fireworks. At least they are including some fireworks for the new holiday after-hours event. Good luck to everyone buying tickets!!!

After Hours events and the holiday themed After Hours events will be wildly different as well. I expect crowd levels to be at least what they were for the Villains After Hours, but I suspect it will be even more crowded than those were.

I would not make the mistake of thinking the After Hours holiday parties are going to be anything close to the low crowd levels traditional After Hours are.
I completely agree. I'd imagine the holiday AH will be a lot more crowded. But I'm praying that they're not anywhere near the Party level. The 2019 MNSSHP I went to was jam-packed.

can someone walk me through the different "after hours" events happening after Oct 1st? (we might need more information) but ...

If we have Boo Bash happening on some evenings the month of October, and then we'll also see the Deluxe/Villas offered their Extra Hours some evenings -and since we know Boo won't be happening every night at MK it will be easy to slip in the Deluxe Extra hours events at MK and other parks..

here comes the question........with the Xmas "parties" at HS and AK - those are not on the same level of part as the Merriest at MK right - just decorations and perhaps a cavalcade or 2?

So perhaps the nights that the Merriest party at MK is going on then they can host the Extra Hours for Deluxe guests at the other parks? Then the nights they don't have the Merriest party at MK they have the Extra Hours for Deluxe guests at MK?

it sounds like it will be a busy holiday season!

I will be very surprised if the parties return, at least as they were pre-Covid. If the new after-hours events prove to be as financially successful for Disney as it appears they may, the parties may be history. They would have been much more expensive to hold than after-hours, with 2 parades, 2 castle stage shows, special fireworks, and other live entertainment throughout the park each night. I will miss them, even though they were way too crowded!

Yes, it's a little confusing because of different start times, but the Boo Bash is 3 hours and is officially explained here: Boo Bash After Hours
