D23 “Destination D” Coming to Walt Disney World November 2021

Edit to include direct D23 information:

More information available sometime next month as well as tickets

A little notice would have been nice. Our Disney plans have been solid for that week for almost a year.

We’re D23 members :smickey: It’s a yearly subscription where they have events and send a swag bundle among other things. The D23 event was cancelled 2020. Here’s the expo from 2019 which includes videos from presentations:

That's the Expo. This is Destination D. It's a much smaller event and more focused on a single subject. They admit way fewer people than the Expo, since seating is guaranteed at every presentation at Destination D.

Darn, would love to attend, but I can't do a November and a December trip! Always wanted to go to one of these, but it seems like most were always on the West Coast?

That's the Expo. Destination D is almost always on the East coast. They are completely different events.

Our strategy was to ride Dinosaur, get stuck, get evacuated, get a fastpass, then ride safari with 5 minute wait... :rolleyes1
Dang, why didn't I think of that!?!?! 😂
Why are they still requiring mask on transportation?
We hopped a bus at AK the other day and a couple of women walked on without masks and the driver handed them masks and said it was due to the federal DOT mandate.

Thanks again-that strategy is what we recommend to them, they just need to follow it. It can crumble fast if they are not timely.
I agree, it sure can. I kinda felt bad pushing my family this morning, but everyone agreed it was so worth it when we had so much done and could do a slower pace in the afternoon and then revisit some things they liked.

As for wait times, Safari did drop lower later in the afternoon. It was pretty much a walk on at about 3 pm (I think it was at 3 since we went to the 4 pm FoTLK).

FoTLK was so great to see. It was SO great to see another show!!!! Made me so happy. This is some of the main stuff that makes Disney, Disney for me :).

Anyone heard rumors about Finding Nemo the Musical? I stumbled across a rumor on another WDW message board that it was closed permanently. AK definitely needs more attractions if that is the case.
I'd love to know the reason for none of the stage shows coming back. Even FOTLK is not really FOTLK. If they can up capacity and let vaccinated cast remove their masks both indoors and out, there's no reason why shows can't come back. Is it a contractual thing or just the $$$$? I can't believe they'd permanently remove Nemo though unless they plan on replacing it asap.

Poly to GF path has structure down for a new sidewalk but no cement poured as of 5 minutes ago (and still a puddle not sure if that matters for pouring?). Definitely progress from 2 days ago, but not ready.

(Apologies for any weirdly typed sentences , walking and typing:))

Guess this means those hoping for a very low crowd experience are going to be disappointed.

There was never any reason to have expected very low crowd levels. That's not what Disney promised. I guess one can hope for anything but there was no reason to if you carefully read the description. That said, we shouldn't have to be fluent in Disneyspeak to know what we're getting and you do.
