Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2024 Edition

I thought Pandora at the Disneyland Resort was going in the DisneylandForward expansion area? There's lots of space for it over there. What is with the assumption that they wanna get rid of Hollywoodland or Grizzly Peak for Avatar? It’s either this or Bob Iger is a capitalist, which is why he needs to go sooner than later!

Josh said all the plans at D-23 were shovel ready. DisneylandForward is years away from even getting started.

In 2023, Iger announced that Avatar was coming to California. The only news announced at D23 was that it was going to be in/part of DCA. Referencing Avatar, the only thing D'Amaro said was, "That experience, I am so pleased to announce to all of you today, is coming to Disney California Adventure."

Avengers Campus will start construction in 2025. Coco won't start construction until 2026. Avatar construction start was not announced. Maybe plans are to have it open by 2030 for Disneyland's 75th. :confused3

I'm totally with you that Iger needs to go but I'm confused by this comment. We live in a capitalistic society, so all of the companies and by extension the CEOs will be capitalistic in nature. The new CEO, whoever they are, will also be a capitalist.

I think Avatar is not taking over the Hollywood area, just the courtyard that leads to the Monsters Inc ride and then the bus loop behind it. But they would have to do a lot of prep to build a garage and new transportation center in the parking lot across Harbor first, so if this is right it'll be a while.

There isn’t enough space for that, per the concept art.

Disney is supposed to be both a creative and corporate company. Iger is making it more corporate than creative.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure Extended Downtimes Continue: Disney's New Ride Faces Longest Opening Delay Yet

Tianas-Bayou-Adventure_Full_56643.jpg

On Monday, August 26, the attraction at Magic Kingdom did not call its first Virtual Queue boarding group until 3:20 pm, marking the most prolonged delay since the ride's debut in late June 2024.

As of 10:30 am today [Tuesday, August 27], the ride has not yet opened for guests, and no boarding groups have been called, suggesting ongoing operational challenges. Since its preview phase and throughout the first two months of regular operations, Tiana's Bayou Adventure has experienced frequent closures and delayed openings.

While Disney typically does not disclose specific reasons when an attraction experiences technical difficulties, it is widely speculated that Tiana's Bayou Adventure is encountering issues with new sensors designed to monitor the positions of logs as they navigate the ride path. These sensors are part of advanced safety measures and control systems to trigger Audio-Animatronic scenes.

The ongoing technical problems are likely a factor in Disney's decision to continue utilizing a Virtual Queue system for Tiana's Bayou Adventure, even after more than two months of operation. Initially, Disney indicated that a standby queue would not be available during the ride's opening days but expected to transition to one shortly after that. However, with the ongoing issues, it appears the standby queue may not be implemented until these challenges are fully resolved.

As Disney works to address these operational difficulties, Cast Members in the area are encouraging guests to monitor the My Disney Experience app for real-time updates on ride availability and Virtual Queue status.
