Disney News, Discussion & an Element of Fun - 2024 Edition

This baffles me. BSO takes place on a specific day between episodes 8 & 9. Mandalorian stuff takes place just after episode VI. What happened to storytelling and continuity?
Let's face it, how many Disney guests have even the most remote concept of how BSO enters into the Star Wars chronology. It's just a place "planet" for them. No storyline needed.

What happened was that guests didn't want that, they want to see the characters they like

I think abandoning a strict canon for GE is a good move. It never needed to be like that - it can just be "Star Wars Land" for all I care and incorporate everything! That's how they did Avengers Campus - it's MCU based, but it's not the world in which Tony Star died, and this happened or that happened - it's just a place where you could see any of the characters in their most iconic forms. That works.

It's really more just a thinking out loud hypothetical question, but I am wondering. Space is pretty limited at DLR. I mena, I get it at WDW - even if I can't picuture it exactly, I know there is room, or they can make it. DCA - man - TWO boat rides and TWO Avengers rides? Did the City of Anaheim just decide to sell them Katella Avenue? 🤣
It will be fascinating to see where Avatar and particularly Coco goes. I still think Avatar is most likely in Hollywoodland. There's so much wasted space there and this ties into the new eastern gateway to expand the park north into the current bus loop. Maybe they were vague because the eastern gateway project has to happen first. It's not exactly exciting to announce a new parking garage at D23, so maybe why the ambiguity.

Coco...I have no idea where that will go. I don't see any expansion room within the current footprint without expanding across DL Drive. Is there an expansion pad in Pixar Pier?

Overall, pretty exciting. Still no Tomorrowland fix.
I hate to be pessimistic, but wake me up in 3 years when they've not only broken ground but actually gone vertical. Being in active development is not the same thing as active construction. Their recent track record is not great with following through on announcements.

What's funny is the Monsters Inc. Door Coaster at HS. It's an old idea originally rumored for Hollywoodland at DCA many years ago. No good idea ever permanently goes away!

For Disney's near term future, there will be a new CEO in the coming years and who knows how budgets will be cut before Coco breaks ground in 2026. Avengers E-Ticket is breaking ground in 2025 after originally being announced in 2019!

I hope I'm wrong and it all happens!

I never knew that. I have been telling my husband for years that Disney should do a roller coaster ride based on that doors scene, and now they are going to!!!! I AM SO EXCITED FOR THIS!!!!

Ditto. We only ride if we’re with someone else who hasn’t ridden it or traveling with a group that needs two more bodies to fill the cockpit. It needs some variety.
We rode it maybe 3 times and then stopped. We were only pilots once, and as a party of 2, being in the other positions was not fun for us. Might have to give the new one a go though.
