Thought this was interesting in light of the earlier discussion. They do mention Disney.
In another article that I read about this topic, it said that Six Flags is essentially looking to price the teenagers that get dropped off for the day during summer break out and attract more affluent customers. I can't see myself paying more for the same crummy Six Flags experience. The park near me is pretty horrible. That's why I mainly go to Disney and Universal parks if I am looking to go to a theme park.

aren't... aren't teenagers the biggest six flags customers?

We did a season pass at the OKC one during Covid. It was awful in every aspect.

Our trip to WDW this August had us missing some things but I didn't feel about it like I did Six Flags. Not by a long shot.

The closest park where I live is Six Flags America and that is undoubtedly the worst theme park I've been to in my life. Six Flags is out of their minds if they think I'll pay more for that experience lol WDW has it's issues for sure but it's nowhere near as bad as that park.

I live less than 2 hours from a Six Flags.

Have not been since teenager-hood, and only then at the suggestion of others. Cannot ever remember a trip I took as a teen where I was like "this is great!!!!"

As much as I enjoyed some of the coasters, I cannot think of a single experience I have had where it was good overall.

Yep, I am not happy about higher prices across the board at WDW, but compared to most other non Orlando theme parks it's still so much more bang for your buck.

I live close to Lake Compounce in CT, and they've got some nerve charging $50 a person for a one day ticket and then another $20 to park. Went there for a company picnic a couple months back. Half the attractions were closed, another twenty percent were in horrible disrepair, and there wasn't much to do if didn't want to ride the water park attractions.

It was sad to me what the oldest continuously operating amusement park has become, I had fond memories from when I was a kid.

🤣! My teenager just asked for a 2023 season pass to our local Six Flags (La Ronde). Our park is accessible by subway so I wouldn’t even have to drop her off! Last (and only) time she went was when she was 5 yo but apparently, that is what teenagers at her private school do in the summer! I think our park is well-maintained and they open new rides almost every year but it never interested us.

Six Flags abandoning teenagers? Wow!

Our Six Flags (StL) is in the same boat as many. My school district used to rent out the entire park for a day when I was still in school. The park was newer and it was cool. I hadn't been in years (decades), but bit on a late Fall offer to get a season ticket for the next season for less than a 1 day ticket. We went and was shocked at the state of the park. It was in terrible shape. Concrete walls crumbling, electrical outlets hanging out of walls, almost everything with paint flaking or fading badly. We went on a late Fall day, so it was end of the season, but it looked like the conditions had been that way for a long time. This was pre-Covid.

We went once the next Spring to get something and see if conditions were any better. They weren't. Many of the rides weren't running. We didn't go back and haven't been since.

I live 30 minutes from a 6 flags and have absolutely no interest in going. It isn't great. I did used to take the bus to go when I was a teenager though, so I see what they are getting at.

So a bit late here, but I’m totally following for a tron date…. I have a trip for Nov 9-12. But if it’s out of that range I maybe booking another trip. I may or may not have told my daughter we could go opening day…..
I would not count on a November opening date or for Tron to be open in 2022 at all. There is still a decent amount of work that needs to be done as well as staffing + training for the attraction and then time for AP/DVC/D23 previews.

Will they go back to HEA? I doubt it because I can't see them going back to a previous show, but you can't rule it out.
I don't think they will want to go back to a show that many consider 'better' then the Anniversary show, it will just cast it in a worse light. Not to be a pessimist, but I think they will not only not go back to HEA, but will do a 'worse' show. Two reasons - it will put Enchantment in a better light by comparision; and I think they will go cheaper. If anything, Disney has really shown us that everything is about the bottom line. So why would we even imagine that they will spend more on fireworks again?

'Opening day' won't be just one day. There will be media previews, cast member previews, AP/DVC/D23 previews, etc. first before opening day to the public. I think public previews will be available in November/December, but if not, I bet there will definitely be media previews in time for Disney's Christmas parade specials. It would be free advertising for them.

Disney going back to HEA would be cost cutting. It uses less fireworks than Enchantment and reduced projection requirements.
