Honestly that's what my fam and I love about it, I love pushing the buttons no matter the job hahhaha. It's the only one we re-rode our last visit.
Even if you don't like the interactive part of it, you can simply not click the initial button and the game will do your job automatically (at least for engineers and gunners), I've seen ppl just sit back and enjoy and it's never affected the rest of the riders.

They don't make it very clear that participation is optional. I bet you can't win that second container with that on though. I do LOVE playing with switches, like on Mission Space, I just think there's too much going on.

My first experience on it was with people who had no idea what they were doing piloting and I kind of loved it. More because I got to kind of yell out what to do in the moment and react to it all. But I can also see why that’s not for everyone.

I've had some bad pilots that basically just let the ship run into the bottom the whole time. Not only did it hinder the mission, it made for a rougher ride as the shaking was constant. Maybe it all works better if you are in a group that you know, but when you are mixed with strangers, it just isn't workable.

Full disclosure my first time on it was with complete strangers. And we crashed a ton.

Is there a list of the attractions that are available for evening extra magic?

True, cast members should make it clear when boarding. One time we got an older couple as engineers and they didn't do anything, I don't think they had much fun. And I think so about the 2nd container, I can't recall getting to that part when we rode in a group of 4.

This is probably true as well, I've only ever ridden with ppl I know as pilots.

So, do they actually ever have extended hours? We are going in March for four nights and according to the parks calendar, the only park with extended hours is EPCOT and it's on the day we leave. Alot of good that does us.
So far it's only Epcot once a week and MK once a week. Typically Epcot is on Monday and MK on Wednesday but there have been random weeks that MK is on a different day.

Just "2022" makes me think this will be a second half of the year opening, or at least Memorial Day Weekend at the soonest. If this was gonna be open by the next "busy" season of Spring Break I feel like they would have said so.

Toy Story Land needs a good gift shop! And another restaurant is more than welcome too!
