As is always the case with Disney, I'm really curious what "this fall" means! I can't help but think of the physical or digital infrastructure that would need to be built out first.

I honestly can't remember--do the Lightning Lane entrances at Disneyland have touchpoints/scanners already?
My brain is a little foggy, but last year Disney was releasing something for Land "This Fall" (maybe Genie+?) and it came out in December like a week before the end of "Fall" as a literal season. So.

Buried in the meat of this announcement, old MagicBands won't be compatible at Disneyland. Only MagicBand+ which really sucks for those of us that frequent WDW too and already have bands! So they're launching this with only the new ones. Lame.

Yes they do! We would just use our park tickets to scan in whether on our phones or the physical, printed tickets. Common practice at Disneyland was always to wear lanyards to put your physical tickets in just for that purpose for easy access.
Sorry, I think you're confused. Disneyland does not have tap points like World.

They have a slot you slide your phone or ticket into that scans.

It's very different from the walt disney world tap points that will be neccessary for the magicband+. That infrastructure has not even started to be installed based on reports from people like Mice Chat.

Yep, no touch points as of yet. But I really hope we get them. It's such a pain to always have to dig my phone out to scan into the park and to each ride when using Genie+. I love using MagicBands at WDW and I really hope we get that at Disneyland too. We've been waiting so long!

They are definitely coming to Disneyland and should work the same way - I'm just not sure exactly when they will get the functionality up and running.

Ah man thought they'd work the same way! Well 'Fall' might end up being November at that rate then 😆

Noooooo, I'm finally going to be down in Disney for one of these events and of course I'm stuck in the office tomorrow without access to outside websites all day so won't be able to book  Maybe I need to stay home sick tomorrow....

Also wonder if the priority entrance is only at the front of the park or if the IG can be used as well.

Polynesian Village to Grand Floridian Walkway Modifications Imminent as DVC Tower Construction Expands

When talking with the front desk, Cast Members told us that a new pathway is being constructed that will run along Floridian Way. This new walkway will ensure that guests can still walk to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and beyond should they want to. Cast Members did not know when the new walkway would open, but we’d imagine it will be days, not weeks. The new walkway can be seen in the digital map screenshot below, running alongside Floridian Way (yellow).

Here’s a look at the area from onboard the monorail. The walkway will run on the other side of the far wall and go around the construction site.

We felt like we were walking right onto a construction site, but the walkway was still open for now.

The first-floor rooms of the Fiji and Aotearoa buildings will have terrible views for a while, and it’s likely that you’ll want to even avoid upper level floors as work picks up.

We didn’t walk the full path, but here’s a look at the approach to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort as we turned around.
