Disney to Abandon Strict Timeline of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Will Introduce New and Legacy Characters

Disney has announced that “legacy characters and original characters” will soon inhabit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, essentially abandoning the strict timeline that the land sits in. When it first debuted, Imagineers said that the timeline of the land sits between Episode 8 and 9, but now Disney appears to be wanting to shift it to be more of a stage than a specific place set in a specific time.

Starting today, Boba Fett and Fennec Shand will debut in Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland. Din Djarin, known as the Mandalorian, and Grogu, the child who found protection with Mando, also will journey to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland park at a later date.

Disney has said that while guests will soon experience characters and stories from the thousands of years of Batuu’s history, they’ll make sure that characters won’t interact with other characters that they shouldn’t be.


This shift will take away the timeline of the land while still ensuring character integrity. It’s a savvy way for Disney to start to free up their options and introduce the latest characters from Disney+ shows.

Right now it's just Disneyland. My guess is that Disney doesn't want to mess with the continuity of the Galactic Starcruiser so that's why these characters won't come to WDW.

From my understanding Florida is sticking to the timeline of between episodes 8 & 9 to keep with the show for guests of Star Cruiser….

Time will tell if characters such as Fett, Fennec, Mando and Grogu will appear when/if Launch Bay reopens (which according to journalist Brooke Geiger McDonald is “soon” ) or if they will only appear on the east coast by way of after hours/moonlight magic/RunDisney/cast member events

Only Star Tours getting new scenes. (Which is a surprise as I felt like that would be one of the next attractions to be removed from the parks, particularly Disneyland's Tomorrowland)

I'm assuming and also hoping that they'll also make this change eventually in the World. If they are going to keep the characters separate, they should still be able to work this into the Star Cruiser's theme ... especially if they change up the Crusier's story over time.

As a Star Wars geek I applaud this decision, but to me it also shows that it probably would have been a better idea to go with Mos Eisley instead of Batuu for a Star Wars park. You've had Tatooine play a bigger role in the movies and streaming shows way more than Batuu, and it's a classic locale.

I’m hoping they’ll find a way to bring new and legacy characters to WDW Hollywood Studios. This would be awesome

I am not in favor. Mixing timelines breaks immersion. I like it to feel as real as possible. The mixing of timelines takes away from the experience in Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade at Universal for me.

ROTR/the Halcyon (the Halcyon to a smaller degree but they could change characters/storyline)is the problem here. Otherwise in the land itself on one day you could have OG characters, another day Manadlorian characters (as long as they take Mando's helmet off the wall in Dok's). GE does need something extra with characters/droids roaming around.

I know I'm late to the game but I finally rode the Forbidden Journey two weeks ago and it was the worst ride for motion! I don't get motion sickness ever and felt so sick on the ride I thought I was going to need a "bag". On the other hand, I also rode Guardians last week and thought it was so smooth. I felt no motion at all!

I have never gotten motion sick on any theme park ride EXCEPT for Forbidden Journey. I rode it in early May and felt sick to my stomach afterwards.

Also agree with Violetspider. I hope Disney doesn't tone down the intensity.

I find the last transition on Forbidden Journey from screens to entering the Great Hall sometimes gets me. I don't ever get motion sickness. It's worse if I have been drinking or drank a lot the day before and ride in the morning. I just close my eyes momentarily for that transition, and I don't have issues, unless I am very hungover.

Nothing screams a good ol' fashioned fun WDW vacation like being the person that gets to hurl their guts out right when the attraction ends. I bet I would have the room to eat at least 5 more Dole Whips after riding this thing once.

Rooftop Stunt Show of Disneyland Paris Avengers Campus Called ‘Avengers Unite’​

At the Walt Disney Imagineering panel of MCM London Comic Con, Imagineers announced that the rooftop show of Avengers Campus in Disneyland Paris will be called “Avengers Unite.”

According to DLP Report, the show “will happen in an organic and immersive way, integrated into the land’s story!” It will be similar to the stunt show presented at Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure.
