Disney "money"

I just started something in our home. We dont go to Disney for another 2.5 months and there's some behaviors we want to try to correct with DD 5.

So, I found some download-able play-money (1's, 5's, 10's) here:
http://freestuff4kids.net/2007/02/12/printable-play-money/

Then I painted out the person in the center and replaced them with disney/pixar characters. Told DD that in addition to saving her allowance (she gets a quarter every Wednesday for setting the table, hehehe), that she can earn these Disney dollars.

I printed 20x $1, 3x $5, and 1x $10. I put her favorites like Cinderella and Tinkerbell on the $5's....i put the castle on the $10. I explained to her that to earn the $5's and $10 she's gonna have to do some really impressive stuff...but then she can spend that money on ANYTHING she wants when we go.

She earned her first $1 on Friday by trying Sushi, which we've been trying to get her to do for a couple months. She now LOVES salmon sashimi, and is $1 Disney dollar richer.

You got your kid to eat sushi?! I can't even get DH to eat it! DD3 has been very... fresh and terrible3's lately - eventhough we don't go to Disney till December, maybe I'll try something like that just to get a little sanity in this house!
Thanks for posting the links!

Yea! Tell DH that he has to try sushi in order to earn spending money!!!! (though you might have better luck with "other" types of currency, ehehe)

:rotfl2: I did this with my DS, now 9, when he was 5 before we went to Disney. I called them Mickey dollars. The real funny thing is we were in the store yesterday and he wouldn't stop touching everything. Finally I had him put his hands in his pocket and if he could get out of the store without touching anything else he got a dollar. Wish I truly had our next trip planned instead of just tentatively.!

Oh i also printed them on photo-paper so that they feel more like something substantial, and not just a piece of paper that gets crumpled up easily.

we're doing something similar with my two older ones. (9 & almost 4). they made the "dollars" themselves with disney stickers and stamps. we have a calendar and they get stars for morning and afternoon. at the end of the week they get a certain number of dollars depending on how many stars they have. they each have a cute wallet i bought to keep them in. before our trip i plan to let them trade them in for real "disney dollars" that they can have for spending money.

it has actually been working rather well. they havent had a week yet that they havent received the full amount. good luck!
