I was a past DVC member, but had to sell points due to some financial situations...anyway, I want to rent points for our next trip to WDW. Can you use the Disney Meal Plans when you are staying at a DVC resort on "rented points"? I know that you can do it at the other resorts with a "package", but haven't heard anything about it when you are at a DVC resort. Thanks for your help!! By the way, I will be a DVC member again someday...we loved it!!!

yes you can but the person you are renting from has to call MS..we are DVC members but are renting points (so we could stay at a GV at OKW) in June and they had to call and get DDP for us

The owner will need to add the DDP to your reservation, you'll pay for the meal plan when you check-in to the resort. There is no requirement with DVC to purchase your park tickets through Disney to be eligible for the dining plan.

You can definitely get the meal plan and it can be a really great thing depending on your dining tendencies. FOR US, we always eat breakfast in the room, have a counter service for lunch and we all get together for a table service in the evening. So the dining plan was a no brainer and worked out perfectly for us.

Here's a link to the DDP 2008 FAQ over on the DDP board: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1545287

The very first post in that thread contains all the basics and links to the official DDP brochures.

Be sure you understand what you are buying, because DDP has changed substantially this year. Neither the appetizer nor the gratuity are now included in the table service meals, and the snacks have been drastically reduced. Having to pay the tip out of your own pocket alone is an effective price increase of about $9-10 per adult, per day.

This year's plan will still be advantageous for some families, but it is VERY different from previous DDP's.
