:confused3  Why are a lot of you being so nasty to the OP?

She was only asking a question!!! Geez! :

It hasn't changed.
This thread is bonkers.
You can say what you want, but the fact remains that transportation from resorts to parks, and resorts to downtown Disney is for resort guests. Nothing from Disney states otherwise. You room key is coded to show what resort you are staying at so that they can (when they want) check to make sure only resort guests for that specific resort are using the transportation. You can deny it all you want but you are still wrong. They do (although not often) check your resort ID while getting on Disney transport.

I agree - Some are being a bit hard on the OP. I think this is a bit of a touchy subject is all. Unfortunately for the OP, she's almost the guinea pig for this discussion.

::yes::

I used the disney bus from the contemporary to dtd and noone asked for id. Mind you on one trip I was the only one on the bus and on the others the bus was pretty empty as well.

hi,
this is no way meant as a flame or disrespect.the way i look at it is if you'll spend close to a thousand dollars for everything else, what's 28 more dollars to go to dtd? or why not go to one of the parks then take thier bus to dtd? i have never been asked for resort I.D. when getting on a disney bus.i say go to one of the parks then take thier bus to dtd.good luck and let us know what happens.have fun while there!

Don't Nick Hotel provide transportation to downtown disney? If so take their transportation to there then take disney transportation. Is the nick hotel nice. I would like to use my free night through holiday inn's point program and I'm considering that hotel.

As I and others have said, they very rarely check your resort ID card, however they can and sometimes do. I have had it done on the Port Orleans boat to DTD, as well as on buses leaving Pleasure Island late at night.

Exactly. And this is the entire point. Disney simply reserves the right to refuse transportation to off site guests. As bicker said, it's a win-win situation. Of course, if they enforce policy, it stinks for off site guests. But at least this way, it's known.

I am confused - you chose a non-Disney resort but you want Disney to provide your transportatiion? How is that Disney's poor choice?

I would think it would be up to you to either rent a car if necessary or rely on the resort transportation of the resort you chose. If the resort I booked dosen't provide the transportation I want then I would have to make other arrangements.

We stayed at a Hyatt one trip and the transportation to/from the parks was horrible. We rented a car the second day but I don't remember feeling like it was Disney's fault but rather that I was mislead by the Hyatt information. FWIW that was our first and last stay offsite.

I got the impression that the OP was saying that she could get to the TTC via her hotel's shuttle, but that since she wasn't allowed to use the buses due to staying offsite, how would she be able to get to DTD?? I do NOT think she was asking why disney didn't provide transportation to the Nick hotel.

I think if you have a park hopping ticket, you can use the buses to get from the TTC to DTD.

I don't think so. Honestly, if they could get to the TTC, they could very easily get to DTD. Just walk over to the Polynesian and take the bus. Again, the situation where Disney doesn't have to allow this, but 98% of the time, they don't even bother asking for resort ID.

I didn't realize there was a bus from TTC to Downtown Disney?! Can anyone confirm this?

I think that's exactly what the OP wanted to do, but that is exactly what Disney stopped doing. They no longer run buses from the resorts (or TTC) to DTD. The reason being that people were not doing what the OP wanted to do (i.e. just visit DTD from the parks) but doing the opposite cycle, using the free parking at DTD to avoid paying for parking at the parks and taking the DTD shuttle in. So now to get to DTD you have to leave from a resort.

Then the conversation veered off. Do non-resort guests have the right to use resort transportation. It has been denied on several occations, but generally, if Disney does reserve the right to deny transportation to and from resorts to non-resort guests, they don't enforce it often. I know they have done it as well, as I've been "carded" when staying at the Poly and using the resort monorail - but that was 15 years ago or more now!

There isn't. the only buses to DTD come from the resorts.

You may be right. After re-reading her post, it could be that indeed. In any event, she certainly didn't receive incorrect information. Now, had she just gone to the parks, taken a bus to a resort, then taken a bus to DTD and not said a word, she more than likely would have had no problem. However, the information she got is exactly what a CM should have told her.

Actually, the buses do run from the resorts to DtD. They no longer run from the parks to DtD.

I think the whole point of the OPs post was to say that if you are staying off site with no car AND PLAY BY THE RULES as per the CM, there is NO WAY to get to DTD. She was just expressing her disappointment.

This is the way I took it also. I didn't think she was asking for transport direct from her hotel? :confused3
