I just wanted to tell you all what a wonderful CM did for me yesterday! We were supposed to tent camp at FW for 3 days in Sept before heading for Vero. It was our only option because of the low price to be able to extend our vacation to a full week. I was getting very concerned about taking all of our camping stuff, tent, tarps, pots etc.(we are flying) I was also getting really concerned about my son who has been having issues being in the heat and getting dizzy and sick. Well, I called CR and asked to speak to guest relations. The CM asked if I would explain my situation to her first and I did. (oh yeah, I guess I should tell you I was asking if I could get a room at POP with the room only code I had gotten with FW camp site.) I did not tell her, but I knew I only had a certain amount to spend and I really needed a price break or it would be a no go. She proceeded to tell me she would need to check into things for me first before she sent me to GR. So she checked and came back and said sorry but nothing was left but a pref room at rack rate. I was dissappointed, but I let her reserve it hoping my DH would agree and let me pull the extra $$ from somewhere else. I told her to go ahead and we went through all the steps of canceling FW and rebooking. She gave me a new price (I cringed) and a conf. #. She sounded kinda tired or down to me so I asked her if she was ok. She said "oh, I'm sorry, I am not supposed to sound down, I'm really sorry!" I told her it was ok, that they work hard to show they care about us, and I wanted her to know I cared about her too. I told her I was really tired too because my Dad had quadrouple bypass on Thurs morn. It wears you out when you see someone you adore go through that. It turns out HER dad had just had heart surgery too. She told me how worried she had been and we shared what it was like to walk through that. I soon realized I was keeping her too long, so I thanked her for all her kind help and was prepared to hang up and she suddenly asked me to hold. I said sure, but I was thinking she was gonna come back and tell me she made a mistake and there were no rooms at all at POP. Well, she had me on hold at least 15 min. When she came back, she said " I was able to find you a discount!" It took $100 off my bill! I know that my not seem like much, but right now it is alot. She must have gone to someone and pleaded for me. I could not help myself but I started crying (must be the raw emotions from almost losing my dad!) I thanked her in tears for being so kind to me, and she said, "Disney cares about you, we want you to have a little magic after all you have been through" WOW! So unexpected, and kind. The spirit of Walt lives!

what a nice story! thanks for sharing that...
i've had experiences like that...not associated with illness, but just really nice CMs who have gone out of their way for me.....

the work i'm in is broadly associated with call centers....i always use Disney as the gold standard when i talk about what call centers should be (as opposed to what they usually are)....

thanks again for sharing this...
i hope your father gets well soon......

I am sorry to hear about your dad. How is he doing now? :grouphug:

Thank you for sharing your story. It made me cry happy tears.

so sorry to hear about your dad! Glad to hear you got some extra special Pixie Dust sprinkled on you and your family. Have a great time!

My dad is doing pretty good for someone who has been thru that. He is already in a reg room eating reg food! Thank you for asking. It is just gut wrenching to see him suffer. I know he must have been terrified to go thru it but he was trying to be brave for me & my mom, and that breaks my heart even more! Just makes you understand how precious our loved ones are and how we need to take every opportunity to love them NOW!!!!

There are a lot of great CM's glad you got one.

Want to add my good wishes and prayer for your dad's full and quick recovery...

And by your post, you were very deserving of some magic - your kindness touched the CM and they deserve that as well...it simply bounced back to you :)

God Bless!! :flower:

tThat made me cry, I am always glad to know there is still goodness in this world! I hope your Dad's recovery is smooth. Thanks for sharing your story.

Great story. I work in a call center and I know that when customers ask to speak with a manager to tell them they received great service we get a prize small gift card to walmart, target, chilis, etc... When I receive great customer service I let the CM know and ask who I can speak with to pay the compliment (people are so quick with bad reports but how many give good ones?) The CM told me to take the survey after the call. Ok a warning most survey on a scale of 1 to 5, 1 is the lowest and 5 is the highest. This is not true in Disney's case. 1 is the best and 5 is the worst. LOL I took the survey and gave the poor CM bad review at the end I realized what I had done and called back. Spoke with a supervisor and explained what I did and apologized, I said "its kind of makes sense though that a high rating would get a high number" 1 star hotels are not as good as a 5 star. He laughed and said he would take care of it so it wouldn't reflect on the CM.
Last week I called to see if there were any preferred rooms at ASMu (we were switched from ASsports) there weren't any and CM apologized, I said no biggie I was just checking. I was very upbeat and making her laugh, we talked about my ADRs and if I had enough I said no. Kids can't decide, She told me don't wait much longer everything is getting booked fast. I said no fears. ESPN Club doesn't require ressies and we always enjoy it there. So we were ending the call and she told me what a joy I was to talk to. She hadn't disconnected yet and I heard her tell the person next to her what a sweet person I was.

So glad the CM made your day. I bet you made hers too. Someone that took the time to talk to her and understand what she was going through. Good Job!!

All the Pixie Dust to you and your Dad!!

I too work in a call center for a major coporation and others at work kid me when I say I want to hold my standards and work performance to Disney standards. But hey it works for me. I have been leading in performance for 2 years in a row!! More bonus for me to spend at WDW!! :cool1:

WDW standards is also why I have invested in DVC and made the commitment to spend my time and resources there as well as create family memories.

Wow that is really nice. Congrats on getting the Pop at a discount, and *hugs* to both you and the CM for all you've been through lately. Have a WONDERFUL trip!!!!! :sunny:
