For Gantu (last event), Chick Hicks and Mater...I only collected for their tokens. Everyone else was put away (I did continue to collect Event Currency or non-character token trophy tasks). That seemed to help me a lot. An IRL friend who also plays and always has an issue with characters 3 and 4 in Mega Events did the same and also got Mater this morning.

I have only been collecting for Cars and still need 3 hooks for Mater. Gameloft be fickle. Still have days before hitting the McQueen timewall, so I’m not too bothered yet

I have only 3 more Ear Hats to collect for Mater and days to go. Hopefully I will get those 3 hats today sometime.

And after welcoming Mater, hats are still scarce. Still need one to even get Mater to L2, doubtful with enough time to do the last couple tasks at L3 before McQueen. Hope they improve or I'll be behind come Saturday.

I'm at the McQueen time wall. Flo is ready for 7, Guido for 6 and Chick for 6. I need all four Mater hats to get him to 4, but that's the only token of any kind out for collection, so I might get lucky and have him ready by tomorrow. I'm also unlocking the next piece of land.

Pretty much at the same place you are. Still missing a Dreamspark for the land. I do have Mater at 5 though. and am collecting for 6. Now waiting for McQueen

Halfway through Sunday, and I have 3 and 3 for Lightning. I did upgrade the attraction for the 76 and I have Mater upgraded to collect for him too. Tokens and common items are going to be tight with the Mater choice.

I considered leveling Mater but determine that it might be to hard to get the EP necessary.

I concur. I am really taking my chances. But I am thinking that gems will be involved anyway, and at least I will have Mater leveled up at the event "prices". I am definitely going to be spending time skips on the common tokens.
