Disney Magic - Just Boarded!!!

Excellently well said! You're right... Disney treats customers as guests, not customers. And they do what they can to make everyone's experience magical. That's why when we were considering another cruise we didn't think about any cruise line but Disney - even though they're a bit more expensive, we knew it'd be a fantabulous vacation!

Any chance you'll be getting the internet package and can continue posting pictures/reports from the magical Magic?

I agree with MOM TO PRINCESS..

After the past couple of weeks I've had at work and a few crisis here at home, I'd sleep on the deck if I could just be on The Magic.......

Phyllis:)

I am soooo with you....maybe we can grab a couple of the teak loungers!

Maybe we should start another cruise book thread!!! Knowing me I will probably read the third before the cruise and then buy the fourth to take with me. I read the first one in 24 hours!!! Didn't get much else done, though!!!

Totally O/T but I was reading this thread. Another Twilight fan here. I'm about half-way through the 4th book. GREAT series!

And back O/T - thank you Kevin for your post and info.

Smiles,

Holly

I read this as well....I read them after seeing lots of the high school kids with them in their arms. I thought I want to read this and see what's it's all about. And I loved it! I read the first book in eight hours! And the rest of the other books that same week. Needless to say i didn't get anything done that week around the house. I can't wait for the movie to come out!!

Ok, I have to chime in- I am so excited you all love these books so much!! My book group just chose the first one for our Oct. book- now I know I'll have to buy at least the next two to read on the cruise in Nov! Thanks for going off topic!!:thumbsup2

This is an email I sent to Disney this morning, and their reply!!

Dear Ed,

Thank you for booking a Disney Cruise Line Vacation!
I would be happy to assist with your request.

Our ships have three distinct pool areas: Quiet Cove Pool for adults, the Goofy Pool for families, and the Mickey Pool for children.

The Mickey Pool is created in the shape of a Mickey Mouse silhouette, complete with a slide-supported by a familiar white gloved hand. The water is two feet deep. The Goofy Pool is four feet deep. Flotation devices will not be available at the pool, but guests can bring their own.

While our ships have the ability to use filtered sea water in our pools, we choose to use fresh water. Chlorine is used in the pools and bromine in the jacuzzis. The pools are filled on each embarkation day and heated when necessary.

As far as the pools not being kept up, I have sailed numerous times on our ships and have never experienced this. In fact, our crew is extremely fastidious in maintaining not only the pools but all areas of the ship.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further assistance in planning your visit, please feel free to contact us.

We look forward to sailing with you!
Have a Magical Day!
Wilma

I'm very concerned, I will be on the Magic Oct.4 and have read some discussion boards that are showing pics of pools that are green and of other issues that I see as totally unacceptable. I am hoping all of these problems will be addressed before our Oct 4 cruise. Thanks, Ed Yulkowski

This scares me. We have not booked anything yet and will be cruising for the first time with our kids. I am NOT paying the kind of price tag that goes along with a DCL 7 day and having a shabby stateroom and gross pools.

We are still tossing around which cruise line to go with and I really want to choose DCL. But I also expect close to perfection for the price I am going to pay. I am sorry if that makes me sound snotty or high maintenance, I am not. For example we stayed at All Star Movies at WDW and even though it is classed a "Value", the entire place was spotless and in good repair. I expect at least that on a cruise ship.

Relax... you'll be fine!!! The Magic just came off a lot of work... ANYONE who books right after a repo has to expect some work to be still going on.

I personally... would have gotten on at Norfolk if I could have... ;)

Thank you for your report - my DH and I just got off the Magic - we sailed with you, and didn't know it.

I want to say, everything you said I totally agree with - 101%!!!:cool1:

We have noticed the wear and tear in the cabins, and were also disappointed there were not more upgrades done on the ship, especially the staterooms.

I felt sorry for all the families that were expecting to go into the pools, after boarding. Since this was our 8th Disney cruise, and we are sailing on the Magic again next July, we were ok with no pools the first day, but families who could only afford this particular cruise, it must have been very disappointing for them.

My DH and I noticed many, many cutbacks, in the Castaway repeater's party, in the dining room offerings, on the food quality in general. BUT, like you said, it won't stop us from sailing Disney again, in fact, we are looking forward to Tortola next year.

We are scheduled to cruise the Magic in 2009 ( our 6th Magic cruise)could you post on the other things that are " cut backs and food quality". When we cruised Nov 2008 I noticed a lot of wear and tear and had hoped that the dry dock would have addressed these issues but from the other posts it looks like Disney is not keeping up the ship:scared1:

I will PM you, as I will NEVER blast Disney, my family lives and breathes Disney, always has, and always will.....we have been on other cruise lines before kids and there are better cruise lines out there. Even though our kids are 16 and 22, they still want Disney and so do we. Now that they are older, my DH and I said we want to go back on the other cruise lines again (Royal Carribean and Holland america) to compare....but, like I said, even though we were 'bothered' by the changes (and non-changes) - we are sailing Disney again next July and have rebooked for 2010!!!!:cool1: :cool1:

We were also on this cruise and VERY disappointed. Our rooms 2098 & 2100 were shabby with a saggy mattress in 2098. The pools were a disappointment. The mickey pool even after it open on Thurs. morning was rather sad looking. The food from Pluto's except the chicken tenders was cold to luke warm on all 3 days. On Fri. afternoon at lunch time they decided to paint sand and varnish the over hang of the tables of the Mickey pool area while people were eating and kids swimming. The smell was HORRIBLE we had to leave. Disney will be getting a letter of disappointment from me. As for AP as I was leaving the 1st night I walked past a spot in the floor wtih a huge chunk of tile missing not very elegant.

I am completely obessed with these book too. I have read all of them including the one on Stephanie Meyers' web site called Midnight Sun. It's Edward's version of Twilight:love:. I am going to read Twilight again before the movie comes out in November.

If you love the Twilight Series (so happy I am not the only adult dork who loves them!) you will also love her adult book, The Host, I didn't think I would like it because it is science fiction but her style just sucks you in.

Read part way through-Did pictures of the new waterfall in the adult pool area and the upgrades in quiet cove get done?

YIKES

This is scaring me. If you figure we are considering early 2010 what will the "worn" staterooms be like by THEN?

I am so conflicted.

They replace things as they go along... and they are constantly working on the ship with painting, etc. to keep it looking good. It IS a beautiful ship... relax and enjoy!!! :)

EXACTLY!!!

Dry dock is for the bigger projects, staterooms can be updated as needed. They have crew members on the ship specifically to paint and replace carpet etc.

Unless you're on the Wonder... then life is MAGICAL!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

(thanks for the intro...)
