Disney Magic: Dec 23, 2015 Key west

Now that we are in Key West on Christmas Eve I am wondering if anyone is familiar with the local scene and knows whether or not places will be open. Was originally thinking of wandering around and exploring with kids, but now thinking I better try and pull together a last minute outing. Thoughts?

Depending on what your kids ages are and what they like, there are several options. Fort Zachary Taylor is an option and it is near the aquarium. Not sure if either place will be open or not. In addition, you can go to Hemingway's house. I have not be there, but I have heard it is good from people that have gone. Again, I am not sure if it will be open or not.

On a side note, there is a frozen custard place called Kohrs on Duval St. It is amazing! I highly recommend the vanilla/orange swirl, it tastes like a dreamsicle.

The Key West Aquarium is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year, rain or shine :sunny:

Good to hear!

I need to sit down and start planning on what we are going to do.

My daughter did email Disney about whether they would play Star Wars on the ship and they said yes :yay:

on the magic, all the staterooms can be reached. As far as I know, the FE is closed. I'll pm IPonce to come in here and comment.

From what I am reading I think it is up to you what you would like to include in the gifts.

Thanks imponce for contacting me -still unable to send PMs---informed that the FE that was being organized is closed since the list already went out. Anyone else out there that got on board too late and wants to participate in a FE-#2? Or maybe a Secret Mickey gift exchange on Eve?

It looks like with the change of the day we are arriving at Key West there we also be a change of where we are docking. We will now be docking at OM "Outer Mole".
This dock requires taking a bus into town. Below is a previous thread of taking the bus. It should work out OK. But plan to add a little extra time to get back to the ship.

3 Weeks tomorrow! I finally have booked my Miami hotel and finally decided we are driving. My dh and I realized over the weekend we didn't have ANY plans made other than the cruise. We still have to figure out parking :sunny: I think we'll park at the port unless anyone else has something better. I looked in to the park n cruise hotels and the expense of the "Free" parking and shuttle were as much as to park at the port >:(

TWO WEEKS!!!

This cruise is supposed to be sold out. I can't believe there is no discussion going on here :(

Having not cruised on Disney before, does anyone know if while waiting in port to board the ship if there are activities to keep the kids entertained?

There are things to look at in Port Canaveral. I have never cruised out of Miami but I doubt there are any activities for the kids

Thanks. When we cruised out of Hawaii, they had a band playing and hula dancing, so I was hoping that there would be something to keep my kiddo occupied other than electronics.

Only about 2 and half days to go! I am so excited! I want to start packing now for fear I will forget something. I am usually a last minute packer, but this trip has got me on edge.

We booked the Old Town Trolley to see Key West. Booked through website for $80 for five of us!
