Disney Magic - Dec 10, 2011 - Western Caribbean Cruise - Sun, Fun and Beaches!

Of course when we leave WI on thursday we will be going from 20's to 70's so we might not even need the jacket!!!

:rotfl2: That is exactly what I was thinking! Looks like the forecast says 69 degrees for sailaway and mid-seventies in our ports (for now...).

I went outside Saturday night to get our mail from the box and remarked to DH how warm it was outside. He looked it up and it was 40 degrees. :) So, I'd say 69 is going to feel mighty warm to me! (Still packing layers, though.)

I called my TA about the Magic, and she called Disney. Sounds like all is well with the Magic, and no illness reported (and they'd have to report due to federal law).

Only two more days until departure day for our family! I think all my excitement is turning into nerves.

Thank you, Carmen, for calling and finding out what's going on! I was getting really worried, too, after seeing that board. Seems like these things keep cropping up that get me worried (when I got sick, when rain was forecast, problems with the ship... what next?!) For sure, I cannot concentrate at work, I keep taking "breaks" and checking the Dis!

I need to repeat a mantra: "You can only control what you can control." Lol.

Hey there!
I went on this cruise almost three years ago... wow time flies! but I was wondering if anyone could get me the Spicy gumbo soup recipe from one of the dinner nights. You would just have to ask your server and they could bring it over.

If anyone is willing to do this please PM me and I will send my email. It would really mean alot to me.
Thank you all so much! Have a fantastic cruise! :goodvibes

For those of you on first cruise; formal night-some people get REALLY dressed up, some still wear jeans. I Prefer to dress up because most of us never have any other chances! Semi formal night-a little less dressed but still a dress vs pants or jeans. Don't forget PIRATE night! Most people wear pirate costumes. I figured they wouldn't and I didn't want to look dumb the first time, but boy I missed out! Also, I took a DIS cruise same week last year and although it was hot during the day, we needed sweatshirts on deck at night. Sail away day was downright cold and rainy but it got much better by the next day! One other thing we didn't know...on Pirate night there is a buffet at 10:30 on deck 10. We had late dinner seating and no one told us so we ate a full dinner. We were so sad to be FULL because the buffet at the party was almost better than dinner!

To all my PACKERS family: 12-0
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I sure hope your TA is right. I so need a vacation and we start our drive on Wednesday, so it will be hard to turn back without notice....

Hockey moms my goalie is a boy, but we have played on mixed teams too, so I would never assume. Should be a lot of fun! My husband will not let us bring the mini-sticks, though. I Guess he's right...

Whew! It's been a while since I posted here, but I just emailed my last exam to my professor so with only two more work days, my mind is now 50-75% occupied with all the things I need to get done before we leave on Thursday. Luckily, a lot of the little things are in a bin and I have magnets from our last cruise. Packing though...ugh...so many things to figure out without over packing . (That is the challenge at hand!)

I'm really looking forward to the cruise and the day at the park. We're probably going to Epcot at my daughter's request. She isn't big on rides and loves Mulan. Good thing it's my favorite park!

I'm really looking forward to seeing all the holiday decorations as we missed out being the first cruise after the new year.

I hope everyone has safe and non-eventful travels and we'll see you on board!

Well the last few days have been an emotional stressfull time for me at work so I am looking forward to relaxation onboard.
For all those who coming from the 20's to the 60's just know that us Floridians think 60's is very cold

I wonder how many people called DCL or travel agents because of that post? We did! And were told (of course) that everything is fine. I'd feel better if the person who posted it got an update from the cruiser on the ship.

So today Hannah woke up with two very crusty eyes! Yes, a bad case of pink eye. Better today than Fri or Sat though, right? Praying that nobody else gets it. She missed school today and probably will tomorrow too from it. Add that to the week we are pulling her out, and that's even more 5th grade homework.

I was planning on starting my packing today (or at least figuring things out). But between spending a chunk of time at the doctor/pharmacy with her and major dental work for me, nothing got done. Im stressed, but all will be fine in a couple of days when we get on that airplane (fri evening). Just hoping to be able to get it all done by then!

As for the weather, my husband & I had the same conversation about how it will feel warm to us (in Michigan).

I'm sure everyone else has been following that thread as obsessively as I have, but just in case you didn't see it, the Magic docked in St. Maartin this morning as scheduled. :) Looks like everything is a-ok!

Renee, my girls both had pink eye a couple months ago, so I can definitely sympathize! I know in our case it was all cleared up within a couple days. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Is anyone else still staying at CIS at port? We'll be there early on Friday, so if anyone wants to get together, let me know! If nothing else, we can meet up for breakfast if you don't mind my rambunctious little ones. :)

Ok, what is CIS? We're staying at the Hampton Inn.

We are staying at CIS too! We love little ones
Glad to hear the Magic is ok. Breathing a big SIGH OF RELIEF. We are closing on our house Thursday evening and flying out Friday morning. As soon as we get back we will be moving to a rental. :upsidedow

What sorts of things do people wear for Pirate Night, short of full on costumes? I still have a bit of time to run out to shop.

Oh Kathy that sounds so stressful! Hopefully you get to kick back and RELAX on this vacation and not worry about house stuff.

Glad to hear the Magic is okay. Note to self: buy some dramamine!

We finally decided on staying at the Hyatt Regency Hotel at MCO, since we're not arriving till after midnight Friday. I really like that we can leave our luggage in our room while we check-in at the Disney desk and hop the bus to the terminal.

Only 2 (and a half) more days of work to go! I am "lucky" in that I can work makeup time to take Friday off without having to take any additional time off for this vacation. So my schedule is 11 hrs yesterday, 10 hrs today, 8 hrs tomorrow, and 11 hrs Thursday! I sit at a desk playing, er, I mean... working in spreadsheets all day. I always get neck and back pain and eye strain on 11 hr spreadsheet days. Dreaming instead of lying on a warm, sandy beach with a tropical drink nearby. :woohoo:

Pirate night outfit. Well I have a pair of black ghauco (sp) capri's that I love and I found a short sleeve black and white stripped shirt, I then when to the fabric store and got some red skull print and made a sash. It's piratey but the shirt could be nice with jeans and those pants will be worn to dinner a different night!! I did get the kids some pirate costumes after halloween cheap so we will be part of the crew that night!!

This struck me as so funny because I've gone back and forth for months trying to decide whether to pick up some meclizine (non-drowsy med) or not. The ship's health clinic hands it out as needed (but might run out if lots of people get seasick), we already have Benedryl because of allergies and it works similarly as meclizine on motion sickness (but really makes DD sleepy), and finally, we may not need it at all (but what if the seas are rough? what if half the ship is sick and there's no meds left and not even any wrist bands in the gift shop?). I finally decided that I'd rather have it than not and picked some up today.

We will be staying at CIS. We won't be there until the evening. A meeting at breakfast sounds great. I just hope you can put up with my rambunctious big one. (he will be the one in the lime green hard hat with mickey ears)
