Hi

We've done two cruises in concierge in the Dream, both were 3 day cruises. We are looking to go on another cruise but are spoiled to concierge. I've been doing some research and am torn between a 7 day on the Magic concierge and a 3 day on the Dream concierge. I know I know, there probably shouldn't even be a decision between a 7 day and a 3 day BUT I'm nervous the Magic won't be up to par with the Dream. I'm afraid we have been spoiled by the Dream since it's a larger and newer ship. Also, I forgot to mention we will be traveling with my 89 and 85 year old in laws. Has anyone done concierge in both the Dream and the Magic? Can you give me pros and cons for each? Is there much of a difference in the concierge lounge or the rooms?

Thanks!!

I've sailed concierge on both and prefer the Dream but would take a 7 night on the Magic over the 3 night on the Dream. However I would do a 4/3 B2B on the Dream over a 7 night on the Magic.

The biggest difference is the lounge on the Magic is located on the 10th deck while all of the concierge rooms are on 8 so it isn't nearly as convenient. If you plan to get a Category T suite, try to get 8032, 8532, 8034 or 8534. They are located midship and have a much nicer layout.

I've also sailed concierge on both ships. In 2010 we did a cat T on the Magic, and have done two 4 day cruises on the Dream in a cat V. I was unaware that the Magic has a concierge lounge though. This must be new.
Since you are sailing with your in laws the extra room in the cat T would be nice. The lounge on the Dream , as you know, is to die for. It's really makes the trip for us. Cappuccino every morning, a light breakfast, pre diner drinks. Very cool.

I do feel that over all service is better on the smaller ships though. More attention because of less people. Just my experience of course. But the concierge lounge has always made the difference for us. I'll have to check out deck plans for the Magic to find the new lounge.

We've done both and actually did concierge on the Magic a few months before they built the new lounge space. Yes, the Dream lounge is exquisite, but the concierge staff on the Magic were unbelievable. They truly went above and beyond for our family. My DS got sick during the cruise and the concierge CM's came to our cabin with a plush Mickey and special note for him. They were on top of everything and were the kindest, warmest people. I've now been on the Fantasy, Dream and Magic and really prefer the smaller ship. Especially with the concierge staff - it was a warmer, more personalized service. I would absolutely not hesitate to book the 7-night on the Magic!
