Disneyland no longer will show its Halloween fireworks show to general theme-park visitors.
Instead, guests must buy separate tickets to private trick-or-treat parties at Disneyland if they want to see the show.
Last year, Disneyland debuted its first fireworks show for the season, called Halloween Screams, which could be seen by all Disneyland visitors. Halloween Screams proved immensely popular last year, sometimes causing traffic to back up as mostly annual passholders tried to enter the park late in the day for the show.
This year, Disneyland will only show Halloween Screams during Mickeys Halloween Party after-hours trick-or-treat events that require separate tickets. In the fall, Halloween Screams will appear on Tuesdays and Fridays in October during the parties.
The trick-or-treat parties are moving to Disneyland from Disneys California Adventure for the first time this year, Disney recently announced on its Disney Parks blog. The full fireworks show could not be seen in California Adventure.
Party goers also will be able to enter Disneyland a few hours early before the private event begins.
Tickets go on sale for annual passholders on Friday. General tickets will be available July 16. The events often sell out. Prices have yet to be released. Find out more about Mickeys Halloween Party tickets.
Halloween Time begins Sept. 17 at the Disneyland Resort.
