Disney Lifting AP block-out dates in August

Due to the two rides closing they are allowing APs that are blocked out to come and experienc them.

Cool! I've been hoping for this. IIRC, they also truncated the summer blackout last year, and maybe the year before.

The blockout calendar on the MDE website has been updated to show "Good to Go" startin 8/1, but it's not yet letting formerly blocked out AP's to make FP+ ressies during those 10 days.

Crap. There go the nice light weekend crowds.

Yep. Mickey needs to sell some extra $11 hot dogs to make his quarterly numbers.

Don't be too sure of that. I was there on 07/23 and I have never seen the park so "quiet" before. We went to HS and Epcot. Ride waits were no longer than 30 minutes. In fact, it was a downright pleasant day.

That was my point. Attendance has been down and the parks have been relatively empty. It is great strolling through without being in a crowd of wall to wall people. It is glorious to be able to hop on MDE in the middle of the afternoon and get a FP to RnR or TSMM for 30 minutes after the time you make it.

If they lift the blockout dates early for Silver passholders they are going to flood the parks on the weekends making the parks more crowded.

Not too sure about that, but you could be right. I think AP sales are down overall as well as attendance so maybe not as noticeable as you may think.

With the astronomical increase in AP prices over the last few years, I personally know multiple people who have dropped down to the Silver passes which have blockout dates. It was either do that or give up their WDW passes completely. I can guarantee almost everyone I know with a Silver pass will be there if they have a chance to go on a summer weekend to try to see Pandora or to go on one last ride on GMR (nobody cares about Ellen). School starts in a couple weeks and then fall kids' sports, college football, and NFL will be upon us. Those can make fall weekend visits a little more challenging. So an unexpected early August weekend at WDW should prove quite popular with these folks.

Yeah that could be true, but as empty as things were, I'm not sure if they'll make a significant impact.

Not sure what info you are looking for, but have to love the fluff they created that it's to let guests ride the two closing rides. That is a hoot! If those folks really wanted to ride, just like if they really want to go NYE, they upgrade their passes.

I'm guessing the fact that attendance is reported to be down had something to do with it too.

Winner::yes::

I'm anxious to find out the exact dates!

Most reports say throughout August.

Ugh I was looking forward to lower crowds for my trip in 2 weeks...

Probably because crowds are too low.

Weekend blocks are still in place.

I do. Don't ignore the AA contingent. The dinosaur AA's are magnificent, and I will miss them.

Just for Weekday Select, not for Silver.

Yes ...

So I was saying, Weekday Select is still blocked weekends.

Silver is not a "weekend" block pass, it blocks out lengths of time.
