Disney Kid Races during Marathon weekend?

Just realised one of our upcoming trips overlaps with marathon weekend. We've signed our son up for the 3 year old 100 meter dash. Has anyone done these kid races before? I have no idea what to expect. Are there characters there? If you've done it before, did your kid have fun?

We have not done the one at WDW but our 6 year old has done, and we have been to a lot of the kid runs. Three is pretty young and there will be a lot of kids. If the race will allow, I would plan to run along side him. If not, have one parent at the start, and one at the finish. DS6 did his first mile mud run this spring and my older son ran the route, to the side of the pack. I was really glad as the mud pit was deeper that he thought it would be and he need a bit of encouragement.Kid runs are fun and kids feel so proud of themselves!!!

The rules allow for parents to run with their kids, so we will definitely have at least one of us run with him. He will actually be just a few days shy of four when he runs, and its only 100 yards, so I'm not concerned about the distance. A 1 mile mud run sounds so awesome for your 6 year old. My husband and I just completed our first obstacle course/ mud run this weekend and had such a blast doing it, it will be fun to do one as a family someday.
