I am glad everything worked out for those of you who were still planning to go. I am canceling my res today since we were only going at Tday because of the good deal.

The point to argue is not the negative tax figure, but the confirmation stating "Balance Due at arrival: $XXX.XX". There are two sides to every argument (otherwise lawyers wouldn't be in business) and both sides have some very strong points. The fact remains, we paid deposits and have written confirmations stating the balance due, how that balance was calculated was in error, but it was Disney's error.

Sharon, we discussed this in another thread - I am a MI resident but we were going to be vacationing with our relatives from Cape Coral.

So a FL resident booking the rate knowing that it was inaccurate was acting in good faith, but an out-of-state resident booking with the intention of having in-state relatives join them wasn't acting in good faith??? :confused3
Sorry, I didn't remember you saying you were going with family from the Cape, I just thought you said you had a cousin that lived here somewhere.... If the room was booked in your name, that makes it booked by a non resident. It must be booked by the resident in their name... they may honor it for those who did it wrong, but I doubt that any non resident will be allowed to do that again. They do state must be FL resident booking sorry again, I did't realize you were traveling with them.....

why do people not even involved in this issue get so involved?

ok - this could be worded better...

Hey I know you said they offered you the entire stay at FL rate. But would they allow you to attain a lower rate at one of the budget resorts? I guess what I am asking is, if I keep the first night of my ressie then move to All-stars will they give me the FL rate ($64) for the remainder of my stay.

Sharon, what rate did they quote you for the Deluxe resort?

I emailed the board directors about a week ago asking if they would start a FL Residents board and volunteered to be a moderator. But haven't heard anything back. Come on SafetyMOM help us Floridians out.

I dont understand,People post on every thread, even if they are not involved. As far as a FL board,I think it is ridiculous.I guess they should have a board for every state that just those residence post on.Come on guys, this is a public forum, you knew that when you registered.

I canceled my reservation this morning so that frees up four nights at Coronado Springs at Thanksgiving for anyone out there who wants them. :)

Some of us were involved with obvious price errors in the past. I don't like to see "certified litigation paralegals" unethically if not illegally offer legal advise. There have been enough threads on enough internet boards to establish that UCC and state laws allow business to cancel orders, even if paid for, if there is an obvious pricing error. In this case it's not even a pricing error but an error in calculating the tax. Prior to the internet a business would let an error slide. That was when a handful of people took advantage of it. A business isn't going to let hundreds if not thousands of of guests take advantage of it. HI was the exception. People taking advantage of pricing errors now just hope for some type of discount or gift card. Disney did that by honoring the glitch for one night. That's really all you should expect.

For others, the rate is for reservations made by FL residents. Call your cousin in FL and have them make the reservation. If you live in NY and make the reservation than you're not entitled to the FL rate. You wouldn't get the FL rate if you didn't lie about your zip code.

Whatever ~ I realize it is a public forum....but not every state is offered specific discounts pertaining to WDW...it would be nice to be able to discuss among Fl residents. Sorry if that offends you.

This thread was really pertaining only to those who had booked with the glitch to see what was going and any new info!

But there are other states that do have special rates, not very often but they do.
This thread pertains to anyone who reads the boards. So, I am sorry if that offends you.It dont bother me,I was just reading a thread and seen your post and thought I would reply to it.

GA is pretty much really the only other one isn't it? What other ones?

FLORIDA gets the most the most often.

I'm wondering what order there is to their calling? If I don't receive a call by Friday I will just call and cancel myself.

Actually the thread evolved to a discussion regarding trying to force Disney into honoring an obvious pricing mistake.

I didn't start posting until the thread had already gone in that direction. If you want a thread that just asks people to list what Disney offered them you might start one.

Sounds like your question was answered, one night at the "glitch" rate and the rest of your nights at the FL resident rate. If you're not happy with that deal you might as well cancel now.

Well I for one am glad they are not giving people the whole time for the price from the glitch.
I guess people dont understand it hurts everyone in the long run, including FLORIDA residents.

there are a lot of things people do that hurt "everyone" look at how they have changed the AP codes...could that have been started from abuse? Who knows....let's not even get into what many others abuse on here...

luvindisneyworld - glad you are "glad"

I could care less really what they offer - we would have never planned to go had this not come up...we just won't go...it is a trip that was being really squeezed in to our already hectic fall schedule. And whenever we go over there for the weekend we spend way too much money!! So this will help! But it would have been nice to spend Tgiving with just my "little" family and not have to fight about going to my parents or the outlawz....that is the only thing I will miss.

I had forgotten when I booked that FSU - UF game was that weekend so we would have to check out early anyway - which at $22 a night I didn't care.

I am also a Certified Legal Assistant and have been for over 20 years (ouch - that actually hurt when I typed it  ) and what shocks me the most about this thread . . . All the Paralegals giving legal advice. That's a big ethical no, no. ;)
This may be the most sane thing I have read on this thread. :rotfl2:

There are even special Canadian rates that we get on rooms and tickets now there hasn't been in the last while due to the dining package but we generally get a specific discount geared to Canadians.

I happen to own a large amount of stock in Disney.
I however am not always interested in the almighty dollar.
I think it is wonderful when Disney gives good deals and specials to families.
In fact I would llove for Disney to become even more affordable for young
families.
When I frist read about the great prices people were getting I thought it was just an error like the $1.19 deals people got in on with the HI glitch, but when I found out that the taxes were being subtracted from the total I figured Disney would not be able to honor the glitch since Disney would still be required to pay the regular tax fee.
I think Disney was very generous to offer the first night at the glitch fee to all those who booked.
Have fun at Disney everyone!

O.K. So what we are left with is:

Disney WILL NOT honor the "glitch" rate for your entire trip.
However, Disney WILL honor the first night at the "glitch" rate.
You can book your remaining nights at the regular Florida resident rate under the above terms or cancel it.

This is the information that most people need. With all the bickering over the legalities, the moralities, and all that, I expect this thread will be locked shortly. But hopefully people can get the basic idea of what they need to know from this post. ;)
