Just wondering what other boards do you go on that you saw posts on this subject. I don't know if we are allowed to post what other boards we go on, so if you cannot post for public to read (so we all can see it too), please pm with it.. I am really interested in seeing what others are saying. One of the other boards I go on has nothing about it... also aren't you from NY? Which would be why they called you. Remember I said that your family's name had to be the primary name & address for it to be a true FL resident rate???? I am not getting on you for this, so please don't take offence to it. I too want this thread to remaim open so we can all hear the latest on what is going on. I am not saying you did anything wrong, I know your family was going to be in the room with you, which was why I said that he should have been the one to book. I hope this works out for everyone involved. Disney took our money very fast (with or without a FL address).

When I worked as a travel agent we were told only the amount that was paid for was guaranteed. That's why they are only honoring the one night deposit. Only if the amount was paid in full is that price guaranteed for the entire vacation. It happens all the time in the travel industry, companies give you an incorrect quote and you have to go back and tell the client it's more (wow, that makes people happy), some companies just change their package prices (like Amtrak) and people end up having to pay more. It's not unusual or illegal.

Sorry, but you should probably be prepared.

A business can almost always get out of an obvious pricing error. Disney, like other business in this situation, has to decide which is better take the $$ hit or lose goodwill by canceling the reservations. It'll be harder for Disney to cancel the reservations since HI honored an obvious pricing mistake and people will expect Disney to do the same.

I paid mine off and 3 days later, they refunded me my money, all but my deposit. They never contacted me to tell me they refunded it. I found out thru my credit card statement. Wouldn't you think they would contact me when sending a refund?

I think its funny that they fight it because they will lose money by not honoring them. I won't go at Thanksgiving without it and I would have dropped a good chunk of change there. There are people who have multiple reservations because of this glitch who will cancel because they were going since they got a dirt cheap rate. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see you are better off having people in a $25.00 a night room buying meals and souvenirs and park tickets than having no one in a $100.00 a night room. The hotels that use Priceline have figured it out, you would think Disney would.

In my instance, Thanksgiving is a busy time, yes. And maybe someone would take that room at $100.00 a night. But for most people, if they are going at Thanksgiving, they are going because they want to go for Thanksgiving and will pay what they have to to go. I am only going because I live here and it was cheap. Even if every single room but one was booked at Disney for that long weekend, they still stand to make money off of me because I have that one room at $26.00 and I will spend money there. I have two small children...I ALWAYS spend money there. ;) But even if giving me that room at that price was a bad idea since it is a "busy time", the people who booked at less busy times, Disney really just stands to lose money right and left from this because now those rooms will just sit empty.

In any event, I sit idly by waiting for now to see if anyone else gets that call. They have not touched my reservation confirmation online at this point.

AdventureKat - I am in Sarasota too and am also going over Thanksgiving....I have not rec'd a phone call.

If they do charge regular price I will just cancel....it was just an extra trip and I realized over the weekend that Florida plays Florida State at home that Saturday so we would be checking out a day early anyway...which I didn't mind at the cheap rate.

Alright Lilly. Well, I guess that's two of us not spending money at WDW if they reservations are not honored. And I am sure the list will continue.

Also, its fine with me if they don't want to honor it. I just think its not a good business decision on their part.

wow- I hope it works out for all of you that were able to get such a deal! :sunny:

A Mickeyfan - you would think you'd have gotten an explanation - it may still be coming. I'm just guessing but it seems to me that if they refunded everything but the deposit - that still may indicate that Disney has decided to honor only the one night.

It's still a deal isn't it? Is the rest of the reservation at rack or the regular FL discount rate? If one night is the super discount and the rest at FL discount that's still a lot of savings and perhaps some will keep their ressies?

I remember seeing a story about a couple who had made ressies at the CR something like 10 years in advance and paid in full, I believe it was for the Millinieum (sp?) New Years? They got it for less than $100/night and it was honored. I imagine that's a reason why we can't do that kind of thing anymore. I was always told a quote is just a quote and NOT binding, it's not a contract until it's paid in full, and/or you've got something about prices are guaranteed (which pretty much never happens) in writing. Not raining on your parade, just cautioning that even if a person doesn't call them back, you may find pricing adjusted when you arrive - so it won't be a shock.

Good luck.

Absolutely its still a good deal :) and I am sure some may still keep their reservations at it but I think alot of people just booked because they were getting a dirt cheap rate out of it. I had no plans on going at Thanksgiving at all until I saw the discrepancy and figured what the heck, we could sneak up for a few days and its my birthday so why not. I am sure the ones who were planning to go anyway will keep their reservations and just chalk it up to a few extra bucks off that first night. But I won't keep mine.

I'm sorry it's not going to work out for you AdventurerKat :(

Aw, that's o.k. I am sure I can find somewhere else to spend my money that weekend. LOL.

I haven't been able to spend much time on the boards lately due to numerous factors. But I come back to find out there were REALLY cheap rooms that I missed out on!? :confused3 Can somebody please fill me in on what happened? :listen: I always miss the good stuff!(aka-Holiday Inn).

Ah, don't feel bad. It was a Florida Resident only deal. So you didn't miss out. :)

Ok well I just got off the phone after arguing with them for a half hour. They will not honor it. They will only honor the first night. She said the only way they will honor the entire reservation is if the people who claim "they called in and a manager told them the rate would be honored" can give the name of the manager who said th at as proof.

Shhhhhh. Do you hear that sound? Its the sound of Disney losing thousands of dollars in revenue from Florida residents over the next couple months. :)

Thanks for the update. I will be sure to tell them I expect my $26.00 to be put back in my account as quickly as they took it out.
