I am leaving in 5 days, staying at Pop century. Disney just called and said there was a error in there system. There's no room at this resort. I would be move to All Star resorts...They only thing they offer to me was I would have preferred rooms. I am not thrilled at all. I told them I would have to talk to my husband,. What do you think?

Where is the preferred room in All Star Movies?

I'd request a better upgrade... It isn't unheard of to get moved to a Villa when they overbook. I've seen Value people moved to OKW or SSR.

I think I have the nerve to ask for an upgrade due to their error.

That is such a bummer :( I'm sorry.

I stayed at ASMv two years ago, and the preferred room area we stayed in was in the 101 Dalmatians area. It wasn't a bad room, but I know how it can be if you get your heart set on POP! But I wouldn't let something like this ruin your vacation...it is Disney, after all! HTH!!

That seems unfair, they should have offered you an upgrade to a moderate or deluxe.

The preferred rooms are just closer to everything, if I recall correctly when I worked there those rooms were in the Surfs Up area - and the pools the main building, etc. aren't a hike which is pretty convenient, but it really is no different than Pop Century. The buildings are exactly the same. The environment is fun too. I would go for it and you will probably get some sort of apology gift on top of it. It is horrible that this happened, but it may not be so bad after all. :) I would be more upset if I was staying at Grand Floridian and then wanted to move me to All Star Sports. :goodvibes I don't feel that they should have offered an upgrade to a different class of resort but maybe they will when you get there. Your chances of that happening are better if you arrive early and you are nice about the whole situation. We got to choose who we upgraded and if someone was rude they were out no matter what the situation.

I would definitely tell them no, you want something else. Someone just posted being upgraded to Contemporary from POP (hear is a link to that thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2530524 ). This was probably for the same reason. If it is Disney's mistake then they are going to have to ugrade you. Be nice but stand your ground.

We are scheduled to arrive at pop on the 16th and just got the same call. We have adjoining rooms too as there are 6 of us in our family. I told Mindy that we would absolutely NOT change to an all stars. I am sure that there are those that love those resorts, but we are not those people. I told her that I would be willing to be moved to a moderate resort or better, but would not "downgrade". She told me that they had over 100 others to call and that she could not assure me that we would not get moved upon arrival. I can only say that I will put up quite a fight before getting moved to the all stars.
And the real kicker is that we are leaving tomorrow and stopping along the way, so I won't be home to hear if anything changes. Please OP, keep us updated if you hear anything back. Thank you so much!

They are offering a comparable resort, and an upgrade to preferred rooms - WHY should they have to the OP more??

I have no doubt that every single person / company in this world has made a mistake - it's human nature. We ALL screw up. Why is it that people are never satisfied with what is offered?

So many people complain that the prices are getting to high for an affordable Disney vacation. Has anyone ever stopped to wonder that this type of demands has anything to do with the rising costs?

Greed will get you no where.

This is just my opinion - not meant to flame anyone.

I would call Disney back and ask to speak to a supervisor. I don't think the change their offering is acceptable. An upgrade to a moderate or better is definitely warranted for their error. Good luck!

Wow i would be pretty upset and i cant believe they pop this on you 5 days before your trip. You think they could have done a little better than that. I know if it were my husband he would really have a b__ch session with them and in the end usually walk away with something great. I dont know i wouldnt accept it and make them scrounge around and do much better for you since they pulled this last minute. I am sure there has to be a cancellation last minute from someone who cant go on vacation and at least upgrade you to a moderate or deluxe. Just my opinion.

Thats all nice and everything but if she wanted to stay at All Stars she would have booked there originally. Who cares about the preferred location if you are unhappy with the resort.

To everyone who is saying they should offer an upgrade to a mod - have any of you considered that the mods may be near capacity as well? We're talking the beginning of free dining and the last week or two before school starts - a combination that can lead to a lot of demand. While I would probably ask if moving to All Star is the best they can do, I wouldn't be demanding a move to a different level of resort.

I would personally be very upset to not stay at the resort I originally booked, because I make my resort choices for very specific reasons based on what I'm doing on that trip. But all hotels overbook, and there's always a chance (and it's typically a slim chance at Disney) you will be "walked" to another hotel. At least Disney is being proactive and trying to rectify the situation before the guests arrive. Most hotels just wait until you show up at the front desk and then tell you you're staying at a totally different hotel that may or may not be located nearby. Sometimes they don't even provide the transportation to get there. It's not fair, but it happens.

I wish the OP and anyone else who finds themselves in this position lots of pixie dust for a great vacation no matter which resort you end up calling home.

I just got a call and was told my room was overbooked at popcentury. I was offered a room at another value resort, but my daughter, who is 9, was looking forward to staying at POPCENTURY and started to cry when I asked her about changing..after all she IS the reason I am going. I was then told that if I did NOT take the change, I could be bumped to any other resort of their choice, or none at all...I also asked if they could give me something else to make up for having to move and I WAS TOLD NO..but now I see others DID get something to agree to the move.
this is NOT a good DISNEY moment...was it greed that caused this overbooking? I booked and paid cash for this trip and booked it in april.
If I wanted to stay at ALLSPORTS or the Music resort, I certainly would have booked one of those resorts.

I am staying at a deluxe Ive been trying to get into for years. I dont care if they offered me the Grand Floridian, I would not want to change resorts.

Sorry OP..yes, stand your ground and choose the resort where you would like to be, not the one they choose for you. No TA has the right to choose your vacation for you.

exactly...thank you..my nine year old girl does not wish to stay at the ALLSTAR resort. She has been telling her father ALL ABOUT popcentury and the great time they will have there..
and really, people do make mistakes...this is not people making mistakes..this is DISNEY and it is NOT a cheap trip.

I hope this situation gets worked out for the better for everyone involved.

sorry this happened to you, i know it is all about the kids. I hope they can find someone else to move

I can understand the disapointment of not getting the resort you are booked at:sad2:

I also am booked at POP this year but in a less crowded time so I doubt it would happen to me. If it did I guess I would make the best of it maybe ask nicely for carribean beach:rolleyes1 if not I would accept the All Stars and just have fun :yay:
