Disney is Opening a Luxury Pet Resort

While this isn't new news, thanks for the link. Many people are disappointed that the other kennels will close when this one opens (exp those people over at the camp ground). I have a stay at BLT booked for Marathon weekend and really wanted to put Cedric (see left) in the T&TC kennel, so I could just hop the monorail (did this last Sept). Now I will have to get into the car to go visit. It'll cost more, I am sure...

The resort’s exclusive dog park will have a fenced walking trail bordering natural wetlands around the park. Inside the trail, there will be different play areas, including a 3,300 square-foot area covered in artificial turf, a 4,500 square-foot area with shade trees, and a 1,300 square-foot “canines only” water park.

I hope handlers will be around the dogs at all times near some of the natural wetlands. Although a fence will surely stop a larger reptile, it won't do much to stop a snake and I'd be very afraid of my dog being bitten by a snake down in Florida.

than many dogs running around making a fuss. plus no bushes along the fence snakes should stay away. heavy rains may push the snakes closer but that is easy test as CM just needs to go lookbefore lets dogs out

The other locations are closing? Not that I've been following closely, but I hadn't heard that before...down at the very bottom of the press release it does mention phasing them out...which seems to me to make it very inconvenient for those visiting the parks and just need day boarding.

I think this means it would be nearly a year late in opening...but at least ONE project is coming to completion...

I'd love to bring our dogs, but I can't even afford to treat myself to the luxury resort, so they'll have to make do with the pet sitter while we're away.

We use a best friends location near our house, and have nothing but good things to say about them.

Actually it is more convenient as I believe at the current Disney spots, YOU have to return and walk your own dog??? And tho nice enough, they are (pardon the pun) "bare-bones" kennels--just the basic food water and shelter.

The new place will offer more to those who want more.

Should add that even though I work in a vet Hospital Kennel, we always have a pet sitter stay at my house when we go to WDW. My dogs do NOT do well at a kennel,no matter how luxurious it might be!!!

Most people just do not want to sleep in a resort room that has been previously occupied by an endless number of dogs. It's essentially sleeping in a kennel; just plain disgusting.

I don't think any one resort would ever be housing dogs everyday. Many higher-end/luxury hotels and resorts in the US allow pets, but you honestly still do not get that many (my dog doesn't play well with others so I don't kennel or travel with my dog, she goes to family's houses).

Also, even "non" dog friendly hotels sometimes bend the rules for certain guests (even Disney) and it doesn't elminate guests who may bring their medical assistance dog (or other such animal).

Thanks for posting that. We could not agree more! :thumbsup2
It's bad enough when people will still smoke in rooms even though there are no longer "smoking" rooms at the resorts. Think of it: wet dog and cigarette stench......................
