Has anyone ever heard about the Disney Internship program for college students? My daughter is interested in it and I would like some feedback about it.
This is a very large program that is offered at many colleges. I don't know anything about it specifically, but I would recommend going to the college board and take a look because a lot of them are involved and can really help you out.
there was someone who posted about it last year or the year before-it was the entire process. she gave the good and the bad of it-i loved reading her posts everyday-i'll try and find it
My DD 22 is entering the 'College Program' this coming May for 4 months but I think this is different than what you are seeking info on?
You may be able to find a link through the following website that would offer some information on it??
I also did the CP and had a great time. there's lots of info on it on the college board, you should check it out, it could probably answer a lot of questions. Feel free to pm me if you have sepcific questions too.
It is a wonderful opportunity--but keep in mind that the internship itself is to learn the Disney business from Custodial to theme parks to fast food. Most love it--some hate it b/c they feel they are just doing a menial labor job.
After your first internship you earn your Mouseters--and if you did you can go for a second internship for your Duck-torate. My cousin did this and got to work as one of the characters in special events (meaning not in the parks on a hot summer day ).
I would have loved to do it but had to turn mine down due to finances (in restrospect it could have worked--I am so bad with numbers when it comes to finance).
My brother would have liked it--but they overhired his semester. He was assigned Disney Quest but then was bumped to valet. Great hours for him--but he didn't like driving around DTD in a golf cart to keep an eye on the drunks and stuff. Other than that, he did enjoy his experience and he is still a Disney fanatic.
I interviewed 2 summers in a row--didn't get it the first time--but with more time under my belt and a better constructed resume, I did get it the second time .
I believe at least at the time I applied--there was a day to take some course work with a local community college--at my time this was a great asset as in the state of Florida---college students at the time had to do 9 summer hours as condition of a public 4-year college degree. Not sure if this is still the same.
Hi The College Program is a great experience. It was actually my first job AND my first time away from home. I'm now a campus rep for the program. If you have any questions, just PM me
Thanks to you all for your insight regarding the Disney Internship program for college students. I gave my daughter this Disboards website so she can read in more detail what its all about-we've both been reading the College Boards forum and it is full of info...so those of you that suggested that thank you! My daughter did her audition last week, two days later she had a phone interview and three days after that got an e-mail about being accepted. She should be getting more info in the mail in a couple of weeks. As I understand it she will be gone August 2006-January 2007. We are very excited for her...she has performed in high school theatre as well as local community theatre for several years so this "character perfomer program" should be right down her alley.
