Disney Institute progress

Anyone know how things are progressing at the Institute site?

It's progressing along nicely and should easily be completed by the announced 2004 date!

Actually, there is some work being done on the entrance area and canal near DD, but no real progress has been made with any construction.

At this point, I'd be happy with some architectural renderings with some details about the theme and possible decor and amenities. I know they are scrambling to come up with this information- it's a bit unusual for DVC to announce a project like this without any actual design work to entice the membership. (We already know what the EP project looks like!)

We met our guide on May 7th,asked about BCV and other items including EP and DI. He stated that currantly EP is on the back burning and the big push is for DI. Maybe this is old news, maybe someone has a definition of "backburner".

Since there is an existing "resort infrastructure" in place at DI, it will be much faster (and cheaper) for DVC to put a new resort in place at that location.

Since BCV will apparently be gone quickly, leaving DVC with nothing to sell, the existing pool, spa, check-in, golf and restaurant facilities make the DI location a quicker completion than EP. Granted, they still need a design and theme, but everything else is already there.

By devoting maximum energy and resources to the DI project and putting the EP project on the slow track, they can offer a new resort for sales in faster fashion than trying to complete EP alone or both together.
