I have been looking at Disney Infinity for my kids for Christmas. They are 16 and 13 and are major Disney freaks. We have the Disneyland game for xbox 360 and love that. They also love Minecraft. I don't really understand what this game is so I can't decide if this is something appropriate for them or if it will be too childish.... I've heard its similar to Skylanders but I never knew what that was about either so I can't compare. Can anyone chime in here with some advice?

Thanks!

Also I saw it was on sale on Amazon for $59.99 normally $79.99. Is that a good deal?

My 10 year old son AND my 26 year old boyfriend both really enjoy it. I assume the ages inbetween would also. They both also like minecraft...

The deal with this game is that you can play a couple of ways.

Method #1: Grab a character (say, Sully) and play in their world (Monsters U). Expect platforming/arcade action, something along the lines of what you get in the Lego games. Characters may not cross worlds (Sully can't go sail on the Black Pearl, for instance).

Method #2: Play in toybox mode. You build your own worlds, your own games. Any character can participate. If your guys like Minecraft, this will almost certainly appeal to them. Note that you can apparently share created worlds via the internet, which is an amazingly cool feature.

Do note that this game intersects with how collectible card games work - you start with three characters (and their worlds) - Sully, Jack Sparrow, and Mr. Incredible. If you want to add more characters (or unlock others worlds), you have to buy figurines from the store. New characters will be released over time.

They also sell random power up type items in sealed packs that allow your existing characters to do things they could not otherwise do.

Hope that explanation helps. And yeah, $59.99 is a good deal. I haven't seen it retail for any less than $74.99.

Yeah and if say you have Sulley (Monsters Inc) in the game world and are playing with the Mike figure, they can interact with each other. Each character also builds up a character history the more you play and, like us humans, they get tired and you need to let them rest. Have got it for my son for Christmas (spent AGES playing with the one in the store! Lol!)

My 8 yr old loves it when we can get it running. (old wii issues) He is begging for new characters already. My 11 yr old played a solid 3 hours last weekend and when I asked him how it was he said "kind of boring". :confused3 And boring is why he kept playing...... I have not had a chance to try it yet but looked like fun.

Thanks guys for the responses. I asked my kids if they knew anything about it and they didn't seem to excited for it. I don't wanna buy something just to buy it but I love the idea and its not another Dance game or shooting game which we have plenty of.

In the past when I've bought games that didn't go over well, I just sold them on ebay and made a lot of my money back so maybe I will go with that idea. Buy it, try it and if its doesn't go over well I will sell it.

I purchased this game specifically for my 9 year old. Its for Christmas so we haven't played it but my 15 year old is excited. Not jumping for joy but she is definitely interested. I pre-ordered Jack Skellington and she is most excited about that. My almost 13 year old has no interest but that is because its "Disney", I'm sure once we have the game up and running he'll play it too.
