My DD will be 4 in December and she has asked if Santa can bring her the Disney Infinity game for Christmas. Now I won't lie I was excited by this request because I don't play video games but when I saw the video of this from D23 I wanted it!

My question is do you think a 4 year old will be able to play it? I know it's rated E for everyone but i was just curious if anyone else has a toddler that plays? how do they like it?
TIA!

We had a long conversation at the local video game store about this. The guy there said in general he's recommending kids be 5 or 6, but when we told him our 4.5 year old son plays Lego Star Wars, he said that he'd be just fine playing Disney Infinity.
Hope that helps!

I have a 4 year old and 6 year old. We have Infinity for PS3. I'm not sure how familiar you are with the Infinity game, but there are different levels of play. There is an open world format where you just kind of walk around, fight villains, drive cars, etc., and then there is another area of game play that is more mission based. Both kids can do the open world fine, and I would say they understand about 75% of the mission based part.

So I would say that yes, they are able to play it and enjoy it.

oh good!!! i'll tell Santa to send one to her then. this also makes stocking stuffers easy with the lil power packs. we are not trying to go overboard on Christmas gifts this year since we are paying off our Disney World trip for May but Infinity is ALOT cheaper then i thought it was going to be and with grandparents and great grandparents she should be able to gain a nice little collection of figurines :)

Since you don't play videogames, do you have a game system?

From what I understand, and I could very well be wrong, Infinity is something that goes along WITH your other game console. So you get the one for PS3 if you have that, or Wii if you have that, etc. I don't know that it's a standalone thing. If that is true and you don't have a game player already, this could be an expensive gift for a 4 year old!

Might turn into a gift for the household (other families do that, right?) that she gets to partake in.

I have a question along the same lines for my three boys that want this game.

It appears to me that you have to continue to purchase additional characters and poewr discs and stuff, like the game is just opening the door for a continuous stream of cash out of my pocket lol.. is this true?

this has been my biggest holdup on getting it for them but my wife and I were thinking about finally doing it for Xmas, while at Disney :)

Yup it will be extra buying. Just like sky landers.

I put the request to Santa today

My 3 year old can play PS3 and Wii games (super Mario bros). I'm giving them disney infinity for Christmas and I'm sure they'll all be able to play.

no, its not stand alone. its just a game. we have an Xbox. DH plays video games so it would just be the cost of infinity ($80 at my local store) and some power discs. she can collect more figurines over time. i hear Walmart is going to exclusively have a Rapunzel figure in March i think.

Wait for sales. I bought one from TRU for 25% off. I'm sure there will be more sales through the holidays.

Rapunzel is coming out, and there will also be a 3 pack of girls with her in it.
