We are planning our first October Trip!!

What can we expect? Weater, Crowds etc...

We have been several times before just not in October.

We went in October back in 2007 and it was fave time. Crowds were manageable and weather was perfect!

We went Oct 1-8 and the crowds were GREAT, hardly had to wait in line for anything, even at the most it was about 20 minutes. We rode thunder mountain RR literally three times in a row because there was literally no line! That being said the week we went was still VERY hot, upper 80's low 90's the entire time. We caught MNSSHP which was fun, but if I had to do it again I would pick a week in November or early December to see the christmas party instead and hope it has cooled off a little!

We were there in Oct 2005 22nd -27th. It was really hot and humid- no rain though. Crowds were ok. We enjoyed the Halloween party.

I envy your trip in October! Great weather, small crowds...*sigh* Have a fabulous time!

Just there October 19-25. Low crowds (well I think it was my first trip), hardly any wait for rides, rained for all of 5 minutes one day. The weather was beautiful. We're already planning to go back around the same time next trip.

Went this October and I'm heading back next year also.

The weather was still quite warm-but not nearly as warm as my Sept. trip the year before. No rain that I recall.

Crowds were quite good. MNSSHP was way more crowded than the previous trip (Sept.).

You may need to get hoppers as the MK closes early with MNSSHP.

We went Oct 19-27th, 2009 and LOVED it! I wish we could go back in later October again, but we're on a tight budget and hoping for Free dining. The weather was gorgeous (cold front came in RIGHT before we arrived, it had been hot earlier in Oct), there were NO LINES! Almost everything was walk-on, there were people in the parks, but I kept saying..."what are all these people doing b/c they aren't on the rides!" :p LOVED F&W Festival, LOVED MNSSHP...loved it all. Well, almost all of it! (you can read my TR for the details!)

October is our favorite time of year to go. We arrive the Friday before when Halloween is and stay for 10 days. Besides the F&W and MNSSHP, daily temps are in low 80s, no humidity or afternoon thunderstorms. Nights are usually in low 70s. This year they did break a record the first three days with temps around 89 but then that broke and it went back to "normal". Our DS was there two weeks before us and he said it was a bit cooler the first few days than he expected but just wore a sweatshirt and they were fine. Florida weather can be unpredictable but this was our 13th Halloween trip this time of year and we have not been disappointed.

I love WDW in October!! This past year was really the best. It was beautiful weather 70-80s all week. Not all the humid and no rain.

We did go over Halloween so it could of been why the crowds were especially low but we walked on every ride. MNSSHP is our favorite and the Food & Wine Festival is wonderful.

We have gone in the past during October and had rain but for the most part its a nice time of year weather wise.

We've already booked the Beach Club Villas for next October

We went the first week of October, 2007 and had a WONDERFUL time. We are planning a trip October 2011 for DD's 2nd birthday now. :)

We went 10/08 and I was 7 mo pregnant! It was great! Granted there were few rides I could go on, but the crowds were awesome, the weather was great - and we got to see the Halloween decorations! I loved it - but every families trip is different! GL!

Thanks So Much Everyone. After reading all of this I am so excited and cant wait. We have been 9 times but this is our first October trip. The best part is my sister and her family is going and this is there first trip.

:cool1:

Are you trying to go for Free Dining?

If so, the bounceback offer ends Sept. 30. That's why I check in on the 30th and get Free Dining for the whole two weeks.

It's been years since we went in October (for our honeymoon in 1994) but it was one of my favorite trips. We had some quick rain showers but the crowds were low and it was warm. You'll have a great time!

I have been three times in Oct. and each has been a different experience weather wise. First trip in '05 I was attending a conference. Its been a few years, but I think that trip was somewhere in the second week of Oct, and the weather was wonderful. Warm days, not too humid and cool nights. Just lovely. So when we moved to a new town where the school had a week long break in Oct, I jumped on the opportunity to return to Disney in Oct. That trip ('08) there were those off and on spotty rain showers on all but two days we were there. The temps were in the low 80s but it was very muggy. We went again for the school break this past Oct. No rain during the week, and it was hot, hot, hot. In the mid to upper 90s and high humidty most of the week making it feel like it was in the 100s. The local weather folks said it was record heat for that time of year, and was similar to what you'd expect in June/July. Both school break trips were the first week of Oct.

The Oct. crowds are the second lowest we've experienced (first is over Labor Day weekend.. very low crowds then). We did have to FP Soarin' and TSM, but those were the only attractions in any park that had any sort of wait. The weekend we were there, World Showcase was hopping with the Food and Wine Festival, but during the week the crowds and lines at the various vendors were small.

I love going in October! :lovestruc We'll be back for fall break in 2010!

We are scheduling our 4th trip in the month of October next year. The last few times we have been down there we missed October. But we knew we had to go back at that time of year. For us the mixture of the weather, the food/wine festival, the over all halloween decorations, and Mickey's not so scary party is enough for us to keep going back then. Crowds like always are steady. Weather seems always pretty good. I know I can't wait for our 8 day trip in October!
