Are the Disney hotels worth the stay? I am 19 and my boyfriend is 21, and we are limited on money. but i was wondering since the disney hotels are so expensive, what do they offer? is it worth staying there?

First of all, I've never personally stayed on site. I would much rather stay a little farther away at a nice hotel for a cheaper price. If you are limited on funds, stay off-site. Many of the nicer hotels in the area are much cheaper than the DLR hotels. IMO, I would rather use the extra money for a yummy treat in the parks or a souvenir than for a Disney hotel. Also, try using hotwire or priceline to get your hotel for around $40-60 a night! It works out pretty well. And check out betterbidding.com to help you learn the in's and out's of using hotwire or priceline to your advantage. For our last stay we paid $44/night for a Anaheim Marriott Suites, 2 miles from the park. So for three nights we paid less than for one night at any of the Disney hotels.

Check out TripAdvisor.com for reviews of all the hotels in the Anaheim area and choose one that will fit your needs. If you're at Disney, will you be traveling to the parks by car, or do you need walking distance? How much time will you actually be in that room that you're paying so much for? These should all be taken into consideration before picking a hotel.

But then again, its just my opinion. Someday we want to stay at the Grand Californian for a special occasion. But it will be hard to spend $300-400 on a hotel room for one night when all you do is sleep there!!

Have a wonderful trip!!!

yeah i use travelocity and we got our hotel for 50 a night, and it is less than a mile away from the park. it is days in anaheim west and it's not the best hotel but like you said, all we do is sleep there! i was just wandering maybe tickets are included, or you get some sort of special treatment or something if you stay there, like being able to get to the park early (like a magic morning but you don't have to buy the park hopper tickets), or something like that! thank you for your advice! i will have to try hotwire as well!

When you're a guest of the Disney resorts, you do get Magic Morning each day that it is offered during your stay. If you arrive VERY early on a MM day, you can check in really quick (even if they don't have your room ready) and run over to take part in MM. Day of check-out too, if it's an MM day. And any MM day in between.

You can have packages sent back to your resort, and they will either be available for you or be delivered to your room the next day. I haven't done that b/c when we tried, the stores didn't have the forms for it. Annoying.

You can charge to your room.

You can use the special entrance to DCA from GCH at opening time; officially that entrance is only for guests all the time, but in reality, it's usually only the opening hour of DCA that it's restricted like that.

The Hotels of the Disneyland Resort, located right in the middle of the magic near the Theme Parks of the Disneyland Resort and other Southern Californian Attractions, offer our Guests a wide variety of amenities that put them "ears" ahead of other Accomodations:
  • Early Entry to Disneyland Park on selected days throughout the duration of your stay, as part of our Magic Mornings programme.
  • A Private Entrance to Disney's California Adventure Park
  • Our Key to the Magic Card, which allows you to charge Ticket, Souvenir and Food purchases directly to your Hotel Room.
  • The ability to ship purchases straight from any Disneyland Resort Merchandise Location to your Hotel.
  • Special Hotel Guest-only offerings (Character Greetings, Morning Walks through Disney's California Adventure Park before opening, etc.)
  • An On-Site JTB (ジェイティービー) Office, allowing our Guests visiting the Disneyland Resort on JTB Packages to quickly modify or make inquiries as to their reservations and itineraries.
  • The Vacation Planning service, allowing you to make Priority Seating arrangements, Guided Tour reservations, In-Room Magical Moments, and other arrangements with one simple phone call.
  • Pinocchio's Workshop, a Resort Hotel Guest-only child activity centre located at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Mom and Dad can drop off the kids in this safe, fun environment and go off to enjoy some private time together in their room, at one of our Theme Parks, or in the Downtown Disney District.
  • And of course, the Legendary Guest Service provided by Disney Cast Members, helping to make your Disneyland Resort and Southern Californian stay as seemless as possible.

To book a stay at one of the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort, as part of a Disneyland Resort Vacation Package or seperately, visit http://www.disneyland.com/ or contact the Walt Disney Travel Company on (714) 520-5060.

I'm in pain that official disneyland stuff still says "Early Entry".

Mainly b/c I wish they would call it that again, since MM is too easily confused with MTTMM!

I keep forgetting that we changed the name, lol. When DLR changed the branding from "Early Entry" to "Magic Mornings", they never really informed Park CMs other than changing the name on the handout of Park Times and Events we all have, lol.

thank you for the help! one day i will save up enough to be able to stay at a room, and i am sure the view is great from a hotel that overlooks disneyland!

Last year we spent the most money we've ever spent on a hotel in San Diego at the Hotel Del Coronado but I must say it was worth every penny. We were oceanside (practically a walk out your door and step into the ocean room). I guess where i am going is that it all depends on location and what you value. This year we are staying at the DL hotel because we are doing the buy 3 get 5 deal otherwise we would be back at Fairfield Inn or Hojo.

We just got back from a stay with our two daughters (3 and 5). We stayed at the DLH. We loved staying in a Disney hotel mainly becasue it felt like you were actually AT Disneyland 24 hours a day. The DLH was perfect for our young family but, if it was just my wife and I though, we would stay at the GCH.

There are hotels with views of DL (well, the Matterhorn and Space Mountain) that are offsite. The hotels on Harbor, right at the crosswalk, are mostly just as close as DLH and closer that Paradise Pier, and anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 cheaper.

My favorite is a premium room on a high floor of building one of HoJo at the Entertainment book rate of $79 a night. :thumbsup2 Hopefully in a room not blocked by trees!

Is this for your trip in 11 days, like in your signature? If so, I'm wondering what you will be able to find this close to your trip. Things are pretty booked up around Memorial Day, usually. Good luck and let us know what you find!

well i am not staying at one of those hotels because we can't afford it right now, i was just thinking in the future, but in 11 days we are staying at the days in anaheim west, which is about a mile away. it's not horrible to walk, but at night after leaving the park we are pretty sore, so we might bring our bikes this time. i booked this hotel back in feb because i wanted to get the best rate i could, so i got it for $50 a night (not sure if i used travelocity or not...) but the total is going to be $305 for 5 nights, 6 days. well i would love to stay at one of the disney hotels now! maybe one day when we get enough money to do so, maybe we could even just do one night and then move to a neighbor. =) i am soooo exited! thanks for the help everyone, i can't get my mind off disney so i am conjuring up all of these ideas and questions. :yay:
